We are definitely talking about confusion because if we take the view heard above that they are trying to sell the stock of the old Genos 1, then I would expect a much better price so that they sell easier. However, the fact that the price remains almost at the same level as when I bought it in 2018 (ie 3800€) compared to 3699€ today, at least for me, is strange. I honestly have no idea what's actually going on but what I'm seeing I can't explain without (I repeat) it being something bad.
If you use the term 'bad', it is bad for the Yammie-dealers who still have Genos 1 in stock . It's not that difficult in itself. Remember that the price of a product is not only based on what the product once cost (in 2018). A company must also cover its costs today. This means that a company has more costs today (higher wages, energy, raw materials, inflation, etc.) than in 2018. The company still needs to make a profit on its stock (for continuity of the company). He wouldn't if he sold that product for a much lower price than in 2018? If it doesn't work, he will have to write down heavily on his profits, and a company doesn't like to do that.
And remember that the major dealers never sell a product below cost or at knockdown prices on the webshop. Their customers wouldn't be happy about that! They usually sell their stock to a buyer/3rd party or (affiliated/unaffiliated) sister company
Just my 2 cents.
My best regards,
Ton

FWIW, a selection of the main UK dealers (AC Hamilton, Bonners, Rimmers, ePianos - I didn't check ohers) no longer show Genos (1) as being available to buy online.

If it concerns the new Genos 2, it remains to be seen what will differ compared to the Genos 1.
There are 3 things I would like to see different:

1. An HDMI output so that we can connect an external monitor without a special adapter
(the i-tec adapter is currently no longer available - it is no longer even manufactured).

2. An unambiguous naming of the USB ports, in other words that a distinction is made between USB front, back and bottom, and not the arbitrary names as is currently the case.

3. No predifined folders in the USER area, but folders we can define ourself. (Like it was on the Tyros).

Regards
Etienne

I reckon the new Genos will be around the £5000 mark with a trade in of Genos 1 of about £2000
So a lot of us will probably be looking to find £3000 in our piggy bank. 8)
So if you have savings get the Genos on HP at 0% and keep the rest at 4% plus savings . A no brainer :P

Yes, this was a strange decision by Yamaha which made things more complicated than they needed to be, and meant you couldn't really leave more than one USB connected between playing sessions.

Hello. I would like to make a question which causes me quite a lot of interest.

So I notice that ... there is still a commercial distribution the previous model. That is, the Genos 1 is still readily available from the two largest music store sites in Europe  (Thomann & Music Store), as well as from the largest American music store site (Sweetwater)

I had a good one-on-one conversation with a manager/owner of a Yamaha dealership who explained things this way. Small and large dealerships have different ordering and inventory practices. Small dealers cannot afford to maintain inventory of expensive products, e.g., Genos, so they tend to place orders with Yamaha as customer orders come in.

On-line retailers like SW try to show "In Stock" status as much as possible to encourage people to place an order and get their shiny new toy as fast as possible. Thus, SW (or other retailers with relatively large pockets) will purchase some quantity of a keyboard to show "In Stock." The retailer hopes to "sell through" the lot before a new model is announced.

Sometimes, the retailer does not "sell through." That's when we see on-line price reductions. In the U.S.A., on-line prices are known as "Minimum Advertised Price" or "MAP", which Yamaha can set without running afoul of pricing fixing laws. Those advertised price reductions are made with Yamaha's approval and may involve an incentive back to the retailer, i.e., Yamaha may eat some of that lost profit margin.

A different example -- I've made a deal for a CSP-170 -- now replaced by CSP-275. The CSP is from "reserve stock" (AKA surplus) and is being sold at a reduced price because the new model is already in the sales/distribution channel.

Stuff happens between manufacturers and dealerships. That's why dealerships often get advanced warning of new products -- under Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA). Anybody who knows about inventory control and order quantity knows this is difficult to time optimally.

All the best -- pj

Hi Friends,
If Genos2 is announced on Nov 15th, when the sales starts ? and first in which country it will be available ? either UK or USA ? Any dealer taking orders advance for this new keyboard ?

Thanks,
sunny

JohnS (Ugawoga)

Epiano's Uk do not seem to be taking in pre- orders yet.
I would like to know if we will get the Genos 2 before Christmas.
It is all a month later than 2017,so a tight squeeze. :P

Come on, join in the fun. Mr. Yamaha won't give us answers even if you ask. Everyone knows that we are just guessing and chatting with each other, without anyone indicating that he/she has the wisdom... until November 15th...  ;D ;D

PS. @Colas m., he deleted his post, making this post no longer relevant..

Colas Musique - I guess we are all left to wonder why you bother to join a forum at all?

Hope this is fake!

Hi Toril
looking at a freeze frame you can  see lines where the start button is and casing.
It to me looks like a prototype and lines representing the position of things (Schematics)

I asked Thomann when I would be able to preorder the G2.

I didn't get a "we don't know anything about any upcoming Genos 2" kind of reply.
Instead I got a "we know something but we're not allowed to share":

Quote from: Thomann.deUnfortunately, I can't tell you that.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into their reply :)

Mmm.. it is the tone that makes the music. I respect everyone who contributes in his/her own way to the discussions on this forum. I only notice that @Colas musique uses it to delete or change his posts after critical comments have been made in response to his negative value judgments regarding forum members. Then the comments on his posts will remain, but will no longer seem relevant. I think I have expressed this neatly.
Dear @Colas m., you know what I am referring to.
For me, nuf said ...

Too bad the guy in the teaser wasn't wearing glasses so we could have had a glimpse of the Genos 2 in the reflection.

Waow, I just zoomed in on the eyes of the person unwrapping the keyboard and could hear Star Wars played on Genos 2.

;D ;D

As this is the first teaser I am waiting for someone to say they don't like the colour, shape or position of the power button as this is really the only thing we can see :p

Powerbutton.? What powerbutton? Thought it was advertising for a new headphone ....  ;D

We were hoping for the second teaser today, but nothing so far!
So I am going to complain now!

- If you freeze the video of the first Teaser when he hits the keys, you can see that the keys look narrower and cheap plastic.
- when he opens the box, you can see the width of the cardboard box is narrow relative to his hand, meaning the width of keyboard may also be narrower.
- by judging the position of his hand, relative to his body and relative to C4, the piano sounds one octave lower that one would expect, meaning it is a 66/76 key and probably not 88 key.

This waiting period is stifling!

.... maybe we'll see on next Monday the power cord in the second teaser. ;)
