WOW!!! Styles for my PSR S770

Hi Guys :

Michael Bedesem, Joergen Soerensen and many others are NEVER selling software here.

Their very useful programs and updates are always FREE OF CHARGE.

Almost every member of this forum is using their programs frequently.

Thanks to all these volunteers the Yamaha arranger keyboards became very popular.

Most of us are retired and many need extra income but SELLING here converted styles - BTW, originally made by others - might be a bridge too far and is even completely wrong, IMHO.

How many styles or ANYTHING else of any value (apart from your constant babbling) have you uploaded here or ANYWHERE else for free that cost you many, many, many nights of work?

Between Ketron & Yamaha I have uploaded over 200 000 (two hundred thousand) styles. (You should check my uploads over here & SynthZone & CCS) I did not charge ANYTHING for those thousands upon thousands of midnight hours that I've spent on those - Some of my conversions are amongst the best and this comes from others, NOT from me.

Please spew your remarks someplace else. This thread is about my modified styles. I am not forcing you or anyone to purchase anything over here.

Please shoo now from this thread or I'll report you to the moderators. You do nothing but troll EVERY discussion over here.

Until now you were apparently a valued member of the forum, who in his own way was part of this forum and his valued free! contribution. In your current and other role you use the forum to sell your products. On a free! forum. You also use the free! advice to help you sell your styles or ask for free! advice if you encounter technical problems with your product. I guess there are rules for that (advertising)?  But that is to the respected moderators, how to handle this. In short: by going on the commercial tour now a role conflict arises. That is difficult for many to deal with and to distinguish which hat you are wearing.

I've reported both of you to the moderators. They can take action or not. Your opinion on this thread is uncalled for.

Many have had permission to advertise their creations over here - both of you must be either bored or totally blind- I suspect he first. I have not seen any upload ANYWHERE from any of you. All you have are opinions which you are seemingly allowed to spew out over here freely.

Have you counted my free uploads over here? Now you try to make a big commotion about 23 of those not being free? No, my role has not changed. I have constant feedback with those who purchased those styles and many expressed their satisfaction as they are in a class of it's own compared to my other creations.

So I use others help only for my own purposes. Maybe you should investigate this. Please note the views, 1.2 million. My thread, my suggestions, my find of suggestions from others. I run that thread. So blame me again for asking for advice over here!

To the rest, please accept my apologies for highlighting the above. I have been acused of misusing information from others for my own gain & I need to put the records straight.

Joe, please attend to this if you please. I would also ask you to remove this and their posts over here as it has no relevance whatsoever. It would save me the trouble as to re-start this thread from scaratch under another heading which I would if this continues.

I have a lot of respect and am very grateful for all the work Henni has ever done for this community.

BUT ... his present emotional reactions are not expected nor accepted from a friendly guy like Henni.
I have always believed Henni is a very empathetic person and open for constructive criticisme.     

BTW : a donation would have been a more reasonable proposal, IMHO.

 Henni is not selling anything here.  He has used the forum to draw attention to the product being available elsewhere. Many others have done this and provided it is not overdone, it is not an unreasonable practice, and helpful to the members, who can visit his site and make their own decision about buying. How he prices from free to donation to whatever is his business decision, no-one has to buy. Equally others are entitled to post an opinion on this practice, but that doesn't mean they are right, or that there needs to be any moderator action. Provided of course they are expressed in a civilized and respectful way.

I will most likely start a new thread pointing only to the boxnet folder. The rest of the info would be contained in that folder in text files. Then you can visit the folder or not. The choice is yours.

Hello Henni, Thank you very much for immediately adding the missing sounds to the Tyros 5 styles. I can only repeat that these styles are of a musical expressiveness not otherwise found on Yamaha.

I had a Tyros 2 for some years and the Tyros 5 for 2 years. All styles of the different Tyros generations from Tyros1 to Tyros5 were very similar. Only with the Genos there was in my opinion a significant improvement. But your new styles surpass all by far. I will save for individual songs individual OTS, which correspond to the character of the songs.

This morning I read the comments in the PSR forum. Based on my conversion of Genos styles for Tyros5, I think I can estimate how much time is needed to create new styles. In my opinion, the price of your styles is more than fair. Especially considering that they are not Yamaha standard styles.

I can say without restriction that I am very happy with these styles. I will also listen to the rest of the style demos and order immediately if needed.

I wish you every success in selling your styles.

Some over here are serious about learning more - please allow them the space in which to do so. You've had your say. I heard you loud & clear and thank you for your contribution. But I think you've made your point - so please move on to something else.

Ok boys and girls - let's be realistic. There are lots of things that we purchase that cannot be tried before buying, the list is endless.

Over the years, Henni  has posted thousands upon thousands of style files that have been downloaded at absolutely no charge by forum members. Most of those downloads come without a single thank you from more than a handful of individuals, yet they benefit from those styles every day. He is a very caring, thoughtful and intelligent person that has dedicated his life to his religion, and unlike many others in this profession, it provided him with no income.

Now, if you are one of those forum members who thinks that all his tireless efforts should go unrewarded, I contend that you are probably among the same individuals that frequent this forum that have not contributed, financially, to the forum as well. Not everything on the Internet is free. Henni will likely not become an overnight millionaire from the sales of $3 styles. In fact, he'll be lucky to cover his expenses. My dad had an old saying "If it's worth having, pay for it!" If you don't believe you should pay for these files, then don't buy them. And, those samples are MP3 files that absolutely DO represent what you will hear from your keyboard -  nothing more, nothing less.

I really didn't want to intervene in this thread, but this needed to be addressed before things got more out of hand.

Henni, my remark about trying the style on the keyboard instead of listening to a demo was not meant negatively, it is just what I think, and I also wrote that I understand the need to hold the styles untill they are paid for. You and others got mad at me, that was not my intention, so please acxpet my apology. As for buying styles and supporting the forum, I have purchased several style collections from here, inculding your superb styles. After being a member of this forum for over two years, and posting quite a bit, I believed that people knew me, and also knew that I have only good intentions towards my friends here. ... Please inform me, does it store YEM in the same way as my S770? If I have the LSB & MSB numbers for my pack voices, will the same pack use the same addressing on the T5?...

Henni,  Here's the good news:

If someone has a pack already installed using the same LSB as you have used for your styles, they can now reassign the LSB in your styles files and Multi Pads files to a different LSB they have assigned to your custom pack.  This is a function I requested Etienne to add to MixMaster so we could share styles that use custom Voice packs.

How to do... You must have the latest version of MixMaster.   http://psrtutorial.com/MB/mixMaster.html
   From the Multi Process Menu there is now an option to change the LSB 063 and LSB 062 to another number.

You can batch process an entire folder of style files and Multi Pad files in one shot. For example, if your pack is installed with LSB 010 on your keyboard and someone who gets your styles and pack has already got a different pack installed on their keyboard with LSB 010... lets say they installed your custom Voice pack with LSB 026.  They can use MixMaster to change all your styles files with Voices assigned as LSB 010 to their LSB 026 in a single shot.

I was a little over sensitive about all of this yesterday. Thank you for putting the records straight. I apologize for offending you. I was actually amazed as I've always received only positive feedback from you in the past.

I will gladly mail a demo style to anyone who contact me personal via email. If they like it, they can pay for it. If not then no harm done and they can keep it. I have offered to refund in full everyone who purchased styles. I also offered to change any style afterwards to their full liking regardless of what it takes. No one has taken me up on my offer as yet so I guess I must be doing at least something right.

Hi Toril,

Thank you for accepting my apology.

I am working very hard with another Tyros 5 owner (who purchased all of the styles) to make it work flawlessly on his unit. At the moment it takes 5 to 10 email messages per style to sort it out, however we are making good progress.

I am restrained by my versions of YEM and MixMaster, else I would ask someone to install my pack on their Tyros 5 and send me pictures of the slot numbers for the new voices. It is a pity as I am really only using 10 or less voices of a pack that contains 70 voices - I could trim things down a LOT if my YEM software allowed me to do so.

With Joe H advice, it would then be easy to just convert the styles to the correct new pack voices. For now I am focussing on converting those using standard on-board Tyros 5 voices.

I have learned my lesson - in future all new styles will come in two versions: Using standard voices and using Pack voices. Not everyone wants to install the pack for new styles. I will post the next new style demo later today in two versions. This will then become the norm for all future styles.
