SX720, assignable button not remembering change I made

The SX720 is new to me, an upgrade from the S900 (broken screen) so quite a change. I'm really enjoying it, the operating system in particular. I'm still making my way around it.

Day one I changed the assignable button F to show Registration Bank Information, that's working fine since and has never reverted to the original.
A few days later I changed button A to show MIDI, specifically so I could check to see what MIDI setup was being used. I have a midi setup for OpenText and this makes it quick to confirm I've got that setup in use. But it doesn't hold the MIDI function and sometimes (but not every time) it has reverted back to the original (1/2 bar I think). The page is the one I  get to by pressing Menu, page 2, MIDI.

Yes, I'm doing a lot of playing with this and that, but why hold one button but not the other, that's what is puzzling to me. There might be a good reason but I don't know it.

I've not done a restore or reset, so I'm wondering why it holds one always but not the other... any ideas?

My Genos hold assignments, so I'm not sure why an SX wouldn't. My bet is you have a registration that changes the assignment.

I would create a setup registration that sets the assignments (and anything else) the way you want. Load it after every power on. If, subsequently, an assignment changes, you'll know you have an offending registration, and will have to re-memorize it.

Cheers,
Fred

Yes, I was wondering if it might be that. It seems odd though that just the one button reverts back.

Good idea about the Registration, I'll do that once I've got more familiar with it all and know what I want. I already have my Blank Registration which you recommended to me over 10 years ago!

Thanks Fred
