Mike,

There is a latency problem using wireless headphones. Someone in the forum mentioned there was a manufacturer that made a pair of headphones that did work though. I forget the name.

Yes,it is possible to use a wireless headphone on Genos 2

I use the Yamaha model YH-WL500

They work very well; no latency issues at all.

But they are not noise reducing like for example, Bose .

I have both but I always use the Yamaha wireless simply because the are just that, wireless

Caution: they aren't cheap, but they're wonderful

The term 'wireless' is confusing.  Here, it only means "without a wire".  It doesn't tell you the technology that enables the headphones to function without a wire. 

If that technology is Bluetooth then the latency is always going to be very noticeable when pressing a key.  It is simply a consequence of the Bluetooth protocol.

Some manufacturers therefore use a different, usually proprietary protocol that removes unacceptable latency.  That's what Yamaha has done here.  The WL500 uses their own protocol to get latency down to 4ms.  The WL500 can also be used in Bluetooth mode for pairing with phones, tablets, etc but only for listening to pre-recorded audio where latency makes no difference to the experience.


So beware Googling wireless headphones as almost all will be Bluetooth and therefore unusable with your Genos because of excessive latency.

Thanks for your help, I have some Sony headphones but my Genis2 won't pair with them, ther doesn't seem to be any issues when watching TV ie lip sync but I'm not an expert

That's because you are assuming the TV shows the displayed picture immediately.

Modern TVs can automatically compensate for Bluetooth latency by delaying the displayed picture.  For example, say the Bluetooth latency is 100 milliseconds, then the TV will produce the Bluetooth sound signal NOW but will delay the display by 100 milliseconds, thereby showing the corresponding picture that matches the sound.  To the viewer, the sound matches the picture and so the latency is hidden.

And no, a keyboard cannot go back in time and produce the Bluetooth sound before you press the key

Hi Mike,

Bluetooth Audio on the keyboard is only for playback from an external device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, computer), but not for outputting the keyboard's internal sound.

The Yamaha headphones look nice but I need noise cancelling headphones.
I use Bose 700, also not cheap and have all the latency anyone could need LOL
