Does anyone know of any 3rd party Registration Sets for the Genos2? Happy to buy, don't need free :) And maybe Playlists as well?

Also, is MusicSoft worth getting in to for the Genos2? I had a look at the site and it seems it is suited to PSR only.

I have made a couple of purchases over the Christmas period from,Strawberry Music , and I am quite impressed, you can either wait for the snail mail, or like me download .

I've found hundreds of sets of really good song specific registrations on a site run by a guy named Marco Mendez.

He has weekly (Monday morning) free online song specific classes on the Genos 2 that he does on zoom. The classes are free, but if you subscribe to his paid service for U$50/month (I do) you have access to his Zoom (Dropbox) with a pre-built bank of anywhere from 5-10 registration buttons to play each week's song with, and an easy to play from score that shows all the registration changes, effects to press (breaks, fills) etc.

All the stuff he's done in the past is archived in the videos section so you can watch videos of hundreds of songs and contact him if you want to buy any specific song registration/scores one at a time kind of a la carte. There's all kinds of music there ranging from the 1930's to almost present day.

Occasionally he also puts out bundles of really amazing sounding registration banks for a specific theme. I got one for my Genos 1 a few years back that he called Famous Sounds that had something like 50 different artists featured. Two I remember were Glen Miller and also Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass. There's 10 buttons for each the 50 different band's or artist's sound, really really well mixed and tweaked. The idea is you buy the bundle then  "steal" different buttons from it to build your own specific song registration. It makes it really easy if you're into building your own registrations and want a really polished sound.

Anyway - the website is Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

It's worth checking out. From there you can join the class, subscribe, or listen to past stuff he's done. He's an amazing player that used to be a professional demonstrator for Roland organs back in the day, but now he's mostly about the Yamaha Genos 2 and Clavinovas. I've been using his stuff since the days of the Tyros 4 and although not all the songs are my cup of tea, most are, and I usually learn some new professional tip or technique every week in his class. I'd recommend it !

Hello, here is a pretty good one "Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login"
Also the Genos 1 registrations work pretty well.

Hi,
excellent ones you'll find on this (German) page
(Remark: use the automatic translate function of your browser AND read "Before first order"):

Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

You'll get a bundle of outstanding song-title related styles / registration files as a pack, consisting of
- song-related style together with
-a registration bank file(s), which controls the style in detail i.a.w the original song
-a txt-file of that specific song,
-a MS Word-Doc file with song-text (shown on the keyboard's display if used) and with chords and how to use the registrations specifically,
-a Midifile-score ready to view the score on the keyboard's display
-a Midifile of the life recorded song as a tutorial how exactly to play the song (shown by YouTube)
- and the Youtube Video which shows how to play the song.
- you'll find a sub-page with free-download styel/regisgtrations for several keynboards like (Genos /Genos 2, PSR-SX 900/920, PSR-S970/975 as well as several Tyros Keyboards (Tyros 4/5.
The files as to be stored in a specific directory structure to let the registrations find the necessary linked files. This structure is also available for the use of the directory structure on a USB-Stick (yxou'll find further information on the styles-24-site). This structure to store the files is the basic directory on an USB-Stick for all further buys made in the future.

Much stuff for less money. Give him a try.

I bought hundreds of the packs over the last 10 years.
Perhaps a good link for you all.

Thanks to all of the above.

One thing I have noticed about Yamaha styles -v- Korg styles is that a lot of Korg styles are way more modern.

Seems 95% of Yamaha styles are for songs pre 1990!

A nice selection of titles for me, though I've only gone through 8 of the 28 pages yet! I'll keep browsing and pick out a few I think. The SX900 files should work on the SX720, I'll try a free style as a little test.

Hi Aprilla,
may be some of the voices will not work so there is a revoicing needed, but I think you know that.
Please be aware of the fact as described, that the style is working correctly only, if they are stored within the given directory structure for USB-stick.
I am a customer too and have much experience with those sets.
Best would be, to download the free sets and to install the given structure on a USB-stick directly in the Root-Part (not in a different folder please) with those files.
The registration bank files have file paths to the folder of the structure.
If you plan to put them in your own directory structure, those paths have to be changed.
You can do that with Murray Best's software "Yamaha Registration Manager". You'll find the download location on this site too under "Tutorials/Videos".

Thanks Klaus...

I did try a test with a SX900 file for Drummer Boy and the file structure worked out fine. I was able to use the registrations, use the sequencer with my foot pedal (which is new to me and I'm still practising with timing) and all-in-all it worked out well.
It would be improved if I knew the song better, but I accept I'm the issue here!

Two things I don't really understand is that 1. the sheet included uses only a few (4 I think) of the 6 Registrations included with the test.  And 2. the ending, when pressed, didn't end. But I might be able to figure them out, it is just a test file. I didn't spend real quality time examining it all, just jumped right in.

It should be better with a song I select, at least I know the SX900 format is likely to work. I might be OK to play Drummer Boy next Christmas 👍

Odd comparison, since nearly all 425 styles from the Pa5x are in the 911 included with G2, and cover the same songs. I mean yeah, the G2 has more than double the number of styles, so it'll cover a wider range, but they both include styles for Blinding Lights (2020), Eye of the Tiger (1982), Pirates of the Caribbean (2003), Shape of You (2017), and both have a ton of modern (2000's) dance/edm beats. (But only G2 has a Top Gun Maverick style!) Plus you can download styles from the sx920, which include even more recent songs. However, the PA4x/1000/PA5x have a really tight bass compressor that definitely enhances the low frequencies on the Korgs, esp bass and kick drum, so maybe that's where your impression came from?

On the flip side, I can't get Chinese, Indonesian, Country Western, Schlager, Latin, Spain & Portugal, Brasil, etc packs (samples and styes) on the PA5x so the Yamaha system is *very* expandable!

Thanks I will check that out, didn't know they could be used on a Genos.

Where are songs by  Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars. Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift etc etc etc? There are many more current artists I could list but that should give you an idea of where I'm going with this.

And sorry the post I wrote above had the wrong year span....let's change it to from 2010 and onwards :)

We have kicked this "dog" around many times before here at the forum.

The answer is to LEARN how to use the 800 different styles (just on the G2) and create your own styles to play any song from any year.

Have you even tried to assemble ONE style yourself using the styles you already have? Because it is not hard to do.

Where are the styles for songs by Country artists songs since 2010 by Zach Top, Zac Brown Band,Luke Combs, Easton Corbin, Thomas Rhett, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, etc, etc?

I have them on my SX920 because I made my own styles using the thousands of Yamaha styles that all Yamaha owners have already.

I will be glad to swap you one of yours for one of mine any time.

I don't normally comment on negative posts,  but I'll make an exception as I find it rather irksome with the ungrateful tones of your posts.

You have posted numerous threads asking for help with various things to do with the Genos 2 and in the main you have done nothing but criticise the keyboard. People have spent time replying to your posts trying to help and advise you, but you continue to criticise the keyboard.

You'll find many of the people trying to help you love the Genos 2, myself included. With respect, if the Genos 2 isn't to your liking, sell it and buy the Korg you think is so much better. There is more than enough on the Genos to satisfy my needs.

I have songs/styles/registrations for several of these artists for many years now and I don't even use the Genos range, I'm on a PSR.

But I thank you for your post, I've found several new places to browse for styles and registrations if I ever need more.

I literally said "Shape of You"... by Ed Sheeran? You should probably scan through the 1599 registration playlist for Genos 2; that's right, styles for nearly 1600 songs right on launch day!

As for the others, there are styles for Shake it Off (which is nearly identical to A.P.T & Marry You... both Bruno Mars) as well as "Love Story"; the Eurodance pack (available on Yamaha Musicsoft) contains a style for Taylor Swift's Trouble, as well as BEP's I Gotta Feeling, Lady Gaga's Poker Face,  and M5's Moves Like Jagger. You can additionally purchase styles like Bruno Mars' Just the Way You Are on Yamaha Musicsoft as well. Amy Winehouse passed away in 2011, so it would be difficult to find more recent styles for her songs...?

Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login
I think it would benefit you to go through all 1599 style suggestions for songs first, before complaining about not having things that already exist? btw the 911 styles at launch was with the Genos complete pack update at launch; there are only 800 preset styles otherwise on G2; but the complete pack was available day 1. Pa5x launched with 400 styles (of which 320 already existed on PA4x) and didn't get the additional 45 (not 25, oops) styles until 1.30; 2.5 years after launch!

Oh and neither has built in styles for Billie Eilish (although plugging Eilish's midis into MidiToStyle work like a charm... they removed the midi to style function Pa5x, btw. PA1000/700/4x had this). There *is* a new style called "Miley's Pop Groove on PA5x for "Flowers", but depending on the style variation, it sounds a lot like 10sMidTempoPop, AcousticRock, and GrungeRock.

As Drake said, search this site, we've already gone into great detail about what the 1600 song playlist contains. Ditto as well for the post following Drake's.
Additionally, there are literally thousands of styles available for purchase from sites like

One hundred percent I disagree with you. You have no idea of my intent... questioning is not negative. By questioning we receive nuggets of information we probably would not have got.

And a couple of things are already acknowledged by other owners.

You might also note (but since you are being so negative) that in each case I have thanked those who have contributed.

A forum is a place for genuine queries and discussions, even if those views are not perhaps in line with yours. It is not a mutual admiration society....or is it?

Please do not be so "woke" about it.

I totally respect your right to disagree with me, and you must respect my right to question!

For the record I HAVE owned every model of the PA Series!

For those who have had both keyboards the Pa5x is more technically advanced and in my opinion better keybed. The Genos 2 easier to use and an easier learning curve, also the add on`s available of styles RGT, PPI files far outweigh what Korg offer.
More modern Styles/sounds on Korg which does`nt necessarily match the average age of the customers.
One thing i have noticed is people not always happy with some sounds on new sx920 and G2.
At the end of the day both are very good but appeal to polar opposites for most people

You can disagree all you like, the evidence is there for all to see. As Mark has pointed out, both he and others have told you about the styles available, but you questioned where the styles were in the keyboard for Billie Eilish etc.

I am also neither woke nor negative. I love the keyboard and have no problems with it as do others on this very thread. Rather than accuse me of being negative or woke, perhaps look at the tone of your various threads. If I remember correctly, you were considering returning the Genos, not something that smacks of a positive attitude.

Personally, l don't care what you think about my opinion, but it might be worth bearing in mind if you want help and advice, there's a right way and wrong way to go about it. And judging by some of the replies to your posts, I'm not the only one who thinks you're going the wrong way about it.

Hi Oxford,Swindon here!!!!

To be honest and in my opinion I find third party registrations rather dull and boring and also too costly for what they are worth. A lot of e-bayers as such are churning out simple midi files and registrations not worth a light. Still mean't for Tyros1 Lol!! :)
Get a midi file from doo-de, Germany ( Decent midi files about £5 each) and use Style maker to convert and then give them some feeling.
Registrations are easy to make and as long as you match volume levels of each part to not get a bleed over from the last then you would be great to go. Yes, it does take a bit of fiddling, but for me it is worth it.
I find making your own great and you can also take parts of other styles and make your own.
My biggest moan today is that everything is too old fashioned for me as there is not enough 60's/70's and 80's music in style or registration form.
I want to play things like African Nights by Barclay James Harvest and The King will Come a Wishbone ash numbers. I will have to do the registrations myself.
You never hear this stuff and it is far superior to a lot of year 2000 and onwards music with no feeling. That pepper piggy music, edm and moo-moo singing Crup, detestable. I have to say even 20's to late 50's music is far superior that today's rubbish. Look who shone at Gladstonbury last year, Yes,-- "Cat Stevens." You even cannot get rid of the Rolling Stones because like Pink Floyd, they are icons in Music.
I say bring back Don Rogers, Mick Summerbee and Earnie Hunt and Sam Burton in goal and then Swindon Town may climb out of the relegation zone.
Everyone today wants conveyor belt music. Just look at TV today Essex talking presenters, everything is manic and so called cheap reality rubbish. Others , I will not go there!!! Lol again!!¬!
Come on you reds , We are only two points from the Vanerama

All the best

Hi John,

I've bought a few third party registrations, but am careful as to  who I buy from. I've learned the hard way over the years that some so called professionals aren't Dong a proper job. I bought a set from one well known company where the registrations were okay, but the volumes of the styles etc. hadn't been touched, which means I have to alter them myself, which makes them a waste of money and defeats the object of buying them n the first place.

Kind regards,

Russ
