Hello, I am new the the forum so still finding my way around.

I have recently started using styles and I love them.  I am in a duo and have found some great styles to drop on a thumb drive and use when we perform - great having a drum beat and other accompaniment.

I am struggling with how to increase the volume of my right hand when I solo and NOT increase the volume of the style.  If I turn the volume button to increase volume during a solo the style volume increases as well.

Any ideas - I'm hoping it is something simple I am overlooking!

There a balance feature on your keyboard where you can see the volume of various parts independently.

Check your manual, or let us know what keyboard you have and we can give you specifics.

hello Bluesky and welcome to the forum.
Fred is right. And when you ask a question don't forget to mention what keyboard you have -that way you can maybe get more precise answer.

You can add what keyboard you have in your PERSONAL information with this forum. That way you won't have to keep typing it in with each question. Also your age helps us too.

Also where you're from I just like to know ... because it's amazing to meet people from all over the world working together at this forum.

Ok, I so appreciate the replies, but a few questions:

1.  I am not able to figure out how to reply to each of you individually (do I use "Personal Message" to reply?)  I don't see a "Reply" button for me to write back!

2.  Yes I am aware of the balance screen where you can use the up/down to increase/decrease volume for various things.  But when playing a solo I don't know I would have time to use my left hand to go to that balance screen and press up up up up to increase volume for the solo!  Maybe I am misunderstanding!

3.  I have a PSR 775 and want to add to my personal information as suggested by another helpful forum user.  I can't find where the Personal Information field is!

Last, I still need to read my new member welcome info so I might find answers there!

Thank you so much, I am thrilled to have this resource!

Hi Bluesky,

You can connect a volume pedal to your keyboard, for example this one: https://www.thomann.de/gb/maudio_expression_pedal.htm

You can set your keyboard so that the pedal only affects the volume of R1 and/or R2.

Hi

The "Reply" button is right below the end of the thread.

Yes, Kurt is right - use a volume pedal for live performance enhancement!
I played in small groups for many years using PSR keyboards and always used a volume (expression) pedal for my right hand playing.

Also, I turn the style accompaniment volume down to (about) 80% so I can crank up my right hand when needed, especially for solos.
If you use registrations you can set the volume level in each of them to the 80% or whatever level you decide is best for you.

Hi BlueSky

Your S775 does have an onscreen balance window and you also have plus and minus buttons below each balance item so you should be able to run live in that window and if you find the style is a bit overbearing then simply keep pressing the lower button under the style display while the style is playing and you should be able to balance out your style and right 1 and 2 levels to get them sounding good.  My Tyros also has sliders under it's control and those are really useful to keep the sound balanced.  I do believe that you can also assign your live control knob to do the same thing.

You all have been so helpful!  Thank you for these excellent options.  I am going to try both adjusting the volume balance on the dashboard and save into the style, and I'm also going to get a pedal to try.  This is exactly what I was looking for.  Thank you all so much! Sandy
