Hello
I need to load style files of sty extension to my Yamaha I500 Keyboard. What software can I use to convert SFF1 or SFF2 extensions to .sty.
Thanks

Hi SandeepSaxena,

the PSR-I500 is only compatible with the Style File Format SFF (=SFF1), but not with SFF2.

SFF1 styles that have a file extension other than .sty (e.g. .prs, .sst, .bcs, .pst, .pcs), you can simply rename the extension to .sty, as Fred already mentioned.

However, you would have to convert SFF2 (=SFF GE) styles to SFF1 format first. This can be done with the PC (Windows) program "Style Format 2 Converter":
>>> http://www.jososoft.dk/yamaha/software/sf2c/index.htm

Note that some SFF2 features (e.g. Guitar Mode) are not supported by SFF1. In addition, manual adjustments to the style (e.g. voices and part volumes) usually have to be made after an SFF2-to-SFF1 conversion. You can do this with the "MixMaster" PC program, for example:
>>> https://psrtutorial.com/MB/EV_Files/mixmaster.html

It should also be noted that many styles contain 4 Main Variations, 3 Intros, 3 Endings and 4 Fills + Break (= Fill In BA), but the PSR-I500 only supports 2 Main Variations, 1 Intro, 1 Ending and 2 Fills. The other sections cannot be accessed on the I500. If necessary, you can use the "Style ReMix" program to swap out the individual Sections within a style file. By the way, for many models that only support SFF1 styles with the extension .sty, the maximum file size of styles is limited to 50KB. If you cannot load an SFF1 style despite renaming it to .sty, you could try this program to delete unneeded style sections to reduce the file size.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

hi Chris now as you mentioned that it can play only one intro and ending. It should actually play two intros and endings. The intro/ending is set according to the main variation. Just like the psr e series. I just wanted to share my thoughts too.

Hi Keyboard Master,

As far as I know, PSR-E (and similar) models only have one Intro and one Ending per style. It should therefore make no difference whether Main A or Main B is played after an Intro or whether an Ending is called from Main A or Main B. The PSR-E manuals only speak of "the" Intro and "the" Ending.

Hi Chris I also do agree with you too and the main reason i mention it is i loaded a style with two intros and endings when main a a selected the intro/Ending button Plays Intro/Ending A and when it;s set to Main B tHe Intro/Ending Plays Intro/Ending B.

Thanks for your hints, Keyboard Master.

Unfortunately, I don't own a PSR-E model that can load external styles, so I can't test this myself.

Thanks for the link, Kevin!

By the way, I checked out your "IrishDance" style in MixMaster. I noticed that the names of the XG Text Markers ("fn:") do not match the corresponding Meta Event Markers at the same time position. Please also see the attached screenshot.
