Considering Thomas' comments last year about how his software development was taking over his life and charging for future updates and also a comment that StyleMagic was "almost finished", I contacted him to see if there will be any more updates and I offered an idea for a new feature.

If anyone would like to see a new feature, I suggest you contact him and offer your ideas. There is a contact link to his email on his website:

Here is what I wrote to him:

Greetings Thomas,

Will there be any more updates for StyleMagic YA?  I was hoping that you would add a new feature in Channels Manager that would allow us to Export and Import a single style Part.  Is it possible to add this feature before you are finished with StyleMagic development?

His response was as follows:

Hello Joe,

I am not going to stop developing StyleMagic YA.
It is true that the pandemic has affected sales very badly, but I love what I do and if only for that reason I will continue to develop StyleMagic YA.

The feature you are asking for will appear.

Warm greetings from Poland.

Thank you so much for contacting T.🙏
This is great news.👍
I think you made a lot of people happy,  Joe. 😀

Take care, JH

Work has begun on a StyleMagic update. Thomas contacted me today asking for input on a new Console screen in StyleMagic that will incorporate the Export/Import feature.  Once we build a database of style parts, we can try different parts by deleting a part and trying a new part(s) in an existing style creating something new.  This will be similar to Style Creator Assembly but on the computer. This kind of feature exists in the now defunct Style Factory by EMC (but won't have the bugs of Style Factory).

So we should see a new version of StyleMagic coming soon!

Just yesterday I made a video showing "modern Assembly mode in Cakewalk". Maybe Thomas got the idea based on that.

I agree that StyleMagic YA is a great program, especially in the area of CASM processing.
I look forward to continuing to develop and thank Thomas for that. Yamaha has completely failed in that area.

I suggested the idea to Thomas last year. You have made and continue to make very helpful videos... thank you for that.  I made a style template for Cubase which is possible to drag and drop new phrases to a style Part.  The advantage of doing this in StyleMagic is the alternate channels with minor and 7th chord programming along with CASM settings will be saved.

Joe, Thanks for the nice comment. I love sharing my knowledge with other people, and the video format is great for that.
Unfortunately, Cubase is not a good style processing option. As soon as Style is inserted into Cubase, all CASM data is deleted.
Cubase cannot be added to the GoTO list in MixMaster. I actively use Cubase, but only for audio projects and MIDI songs.
For Style I use the MixMaster (goto)> Cakewalk> StyleMagic option.

Hi Casper,

I haven't found a way to integrate Cubase into MixMaster using the GoTo function either. However, you can use Jørgen Sørensen's "Style Split and Splice" tool to separate the "non-MIDI" data (including CASM data) from the style file before editing in Cubase (and adding it back after editing).

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Hi Chris,
Yes, there is that option for those who want to use Cubase. It complicates the process a bit but solves the problem of deleting CASM data.

Hi everyone, does anyone have any news about StyleMagic? The author has not answered me for a year or more about my request to get back the setup.exe of the YA as I caught a virus on my pc and I lost the file.

Hi Joe
It would be good to have a EMC style build like choosing the bars that you want for each section and then just adjusting to key everything in C.
EMC was quick to get results, but unfortunately when updates came and Klaus had more interests in his work business the program went to pieces.
It's layout was fantastic.
I wonder if Thomas could use that program for back engineering since EMC has gone out of business.
It is quite a long process in Style Magic to actually make a Style, but all the other things are great.

From all of this , has Thomas improved or trying to improve the style making process?
I must admit that Stylemagic is a rock solid program compared to anything similar which always has glitches and exceptions.

All the best
John :)

Hi
Cant you download the file from the midisoft site and activate it using your codes and USB stick?

You really need to buy yourself a one /two Terrabyte USB hardrive and with Windows make a system Image.
This way you will never have to worry again about a computer going down. Worth £60 to £100 for preventing heartaches and disasters ;D

How about we keep conversations about StyleMagic on one thread. There is no need for 3 different threads on the same topic.
