How to Block The Windows 11 Update
today we are going to take a look at blocking any feature update from Microsoft, if you don't want to receive feature updates, like Windows 11, then this video is for you. You can block these updates, but still receive security updates. Remember, only do this if you want to opt out of any kind of feature windows updates. This completely reversable and safe to do using group policy for windows 10 pro users or registry tweak for windows 10 home users.

If you like Edge as a browser you're probably OK. But if you use Firefox or another third party browser, blocking the Windows 11 update may be a good idea as Win11 may prevent you from selecting a different default browser.  >:(

Maybe Microsoft is looking to get sued again.

My PC Does Not have the resources to have Windows 11, so I have done this, even though I have just upgraded the RAM to 16GB and 0.5 & 1TB SSD Drives. My PC crashed last week
and I lost everything, fortunately I had most backed up on external drive and the PC technician has recovered most of the files on the 0.5tb SSD.
PC Is running fine now and a lot faster, I now have to replace the files, I think the only problem I may encounter is getting old version of musescore with lame, and I am looking at getting office 2021 pro, paintshop pro Ultimate 2022 and Video editor Ultimate 2021.

I followed the steps and did the block. But under setting there is a note saying my PC does not meet the requirements for Windows 11. So, did I really need to block the Windows update?

Del

I had that too Drake I blocked it because I did not want files on the PC for Win11 that could not be used if it was possible for them to be downloaded from the update, it Can easily be reversed if need be.

I bought a new Pc last week which had Win 11 preinstalled.. I made a few layout adjustments and now cannot really tell any difference. So far so good. It is faster ( probably more to do with better specs)
and I use firefox as my default after getting rid of Edge.

Hi Guys :

2-3 weeks ago I installed win11.
One week later, I was not happy with the newest win ( home ) version and went back to win10.

IMHO it is still too early for the installation of win11.

Win10 has always been a winner. New updates until 2025.
Do not shoot a winning horse.  ;)

I will wait ( at least ) another 6 months and will follow all win11 comments in the meantime.

Bye for now, JH

Jeff. Microsoft are pushing to get all Win10 users to run Win11 so later future updates will auto update to Win11
Win10 is named 21H1  Win11 is named 21H2.
It would be better to block Win11 until you decide to use it.

Run type  winver will tell you your Windows version.

The thing about Windows 11 is Microsoft needed to keep up with G-5 and the "gamers"

I've got Windows 11 running on two of my three machines now (third one does not comply to the hardware reqs) and it works like a charm, even on a simple i3 laptop with just 4 GB of RAM. All of my sound hardware works without a problem, as do all of my sequencers, VST's etc. FireFox is running as default browser (I don't use Edge).
Normally I always upgrade to the newest Windows versions as soon as they are officially released, because I develop software mostly for Windows platforms. Never had a problem, or lost data, etc.

Hi Graham

What is it about Windows 11 that you particularly dislike enough to recomend blocking it.

Hi Robert

I understand that Microsoft Have released a workaround to allow non compatible computers to run W11.  It is a user tweak, not a different version.

Bill. I never stated I did not like Win11

My initial article (NOT WRITTEN BY ME) was from YouTube (Britec) for PC owners who prefer to stay with Win10

Hi
ON  MY SOAPBOX SESSION

Nothing wrong with Windows 11 , Runs perfectly well.
You really must have a fast machine and 32 gig of ram to keep up with today. Especially if you want to run video as well.
I did this only for my music computer.
When i use Cubase 11, i turn off the Internet , Norton and all backgtound programs which AVG toolbox does. It only wakes what you use. Also clean junk off your drive after each session.
It then runs like a dream machine.
Check your Cmos battery every 3 years (on motherboard) at least, or just change it around that time to avoid heartache. It just pings out with a touch from a screwdriver and make sure to use the wristband with metal clip, so you are grounded. This will make sure the machine does not get harmed. It is very easy to do and you can follow video's on You Tube if you are not sure.
If you start losing the clock time regularly that is an indication.
I photgraphed all screens possible in my Bios to avoid problems. If the battery runs out and is not replaced quickly enough , you can lose the Bios settings, so photographs is the way to go. A little long winded , but could save you getting someone in for a fee and paying over the top money.
It pays to get a fast machine as processing these days is getting higher.
I always recommend getting a company who specialises in custom built computers for musc composition and choose your own motherboard etc
You can get a Rolls Royce computer now for £1600 to £2000. My view is you get what you pay for as long as you do your research.

All the best
John :)
