I use a lot of technology in my work and music. I can honestly say that most updates I have engaged in have come with a boatload of problems, the least of which is things that no longer work right or the removal of very useful tools that some moron decided I didn't need anymore. The so-called "new and improved" upgrades were always loaded with major bugs that caused terrible bumps to my workflow. Microsoft is the king in that department. Steinberg is a close second. Yamaha owns them, hence, my apprehension.

Now that we've been given the boot from the live stage due to this Covid nonsense, I probably have time to recover from any hiccups in the update process. I certainly expect there will be a few. If I upgrade to 2.2, I assume I can just bypass all updates in between? Are there easy and complete instructions somewhere - intructions that don't assume I know how to build my own Genos? Thanks !

Thanks Eileen. Have not succeded yet. I am trying to use the U. S site, as I understand that many have used this without problems. No luck so far. By the way, what is the name of the pack for s975 with choir voices?

Here are the instructions for the update:

1) Download the firmware https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/genos/downloads.html#product-tabs
a) Download the Zip file to the computer.
b) Connect the USB flash drive to your computer. (!!! USB drive should be formatted on your Genos)
c) Extract the *.prg file and copy it to the root directory of your USB flash drive.

2) Connect the USB flash drive to the instrument (Genos = switched off!!)

3) Install the firmware
a) While holding down the STYLE CONTROL [START/STOP] button on the panel, turn the power on. (3 to 5 seconds, then release the ON button)
b) Follow the message that appears on the screen.
c) When firmware installation is complete, press the power button on the instrument to turn it off.

Switch ON Genos and Check:
- press [MENU] - [Utility], [System] ---> should read 2.02

After the update:
This update Resets every SYSTEM settings you ever made.
Quote:  Loading your 1.xx System backup will not work after the 2.0x update
So, no need to make a System backup - it cannot be restored.

I Downloaded a whole bunch and loaded them up to my T5/76 and they are working fine the only problem now is I have no more space on my 1024mb expansion and the 2gb is like £345  :obut been having some fun with the new packs

Hi henrycar,

the Pack "Entertainer 2016 Style Expansion" has a wrong file type (.sme). Obviously, this is an internal Yamaha format they uploaded by mistake.

You can't do anything with those .sme files. We must wait until the Yamaha support will have fixed it.

Hello friends
I sent an email to Yamaha and asked for their help yesterday, and they answered me today! They told me that they had updated my account, and that it would work now, AND IT DOES!!! SO I have been able to place an order! Order is pending. So hopefully I will finally be able to use some expansion packs! Thanks for all good help from you friends, and I fear I will have to ask a couple of questions when it comes to loading the packs into YEM and into the keyboards. Good service from Yamaha! I take my hat off.

As mentioned by Chris this was a mistake. Yamaha also offers a pack called Entertainer 2016 Genos/Tyros. But this is identical to the Pack Entertainer EU. That means, there is only the Pack Entertainer EU at the moment.

Just wondering, today I just got an order confirmation from Yamaha, no download links.
Is this how it works? Never done this before. These packs are free now, so why all this paper shuffling?

Hi Tori...
Log back into your account on that download page and go to my account.
Then click on my library and it will show all the files you have order and should show status available. Just click on each file youwant and it will start to download for you.
I agree its a real goofey way of doing things but that has worked well for me so far.

Hi Genos players and downloaders,
I have downloaded 17 packs but cant seem to download the "Best of Europe" which my computer is saying is 944mb  and seems to be about three times larger than some of the other files. It gets to about 730mb and then starts from zero again and I have tried multiple times. I have downloaded Stijn's cpf file (thanks Stijn) which is just over 86mb. All just seems to be a bit strange but then again this new Yamaha website is a bit of a mess.

Anyone had similar issues?

The size of the Package is confusing but the Genos Pack is 88mb in size. I don't know why it's so big for Tyros 5. Best of Europe is installed on my Genos and works properly.

Probably because most of the best of europe pack from T5 made its way into the base version of the Genos?

I could not get any to load correctly , but I downloaded the Yem 2.7 upgrade and everything worked perfectly

is there a way to load the styles only from these packs ....my tyros 5 is maxed out . I really dont care for the sounds, but I do want more styles. Casper has explained this in a youtube video but i would like an English version if possible . Can some one direct me to some tutorial for this in English ?

            Yes you can when your In yem and the green ticks light up for your packs ready to load.
            Simply un tick them with your mouse leaving the styles only.
            Then just load them as you normally do on to your usb stick.
            I have Tyros 5 and did this today with no problems.
            Hope this helps you.
