I dont see anything on the website of yamaha music soft indicating things will be free from next week?

When I click on the link, I get a popup titled PRICE CHANGE ALERT, stating exactly that: packs free as of 6/30. It may be your browser settings that are stopping the popup.

Of course, maybe the website's been hacked, but we'll see.

Cheers,
Fred

If you have an ad blocker install on your browser, it will keep the popup showing.  Fred may be right though... why would Yamaha offer their expansion packs for free.  The popup does not say for a limited time. just that expansion and voice packs will be free.

Here's what it says:

Price Change Alert!

Starting 6/30, Yamaha Music Soft Premium Pack & Voices & Voice & Style Expansion Packs will be free.
If you have any questions please contact Customer Support for details at (866) 430-2652.

Like everything? I need my refunds on the many I purchased since I got the Genos! Lol

Actually, Easy Sounds packs are available for purchase through Yamaha on the Yamaha MusicSoft website:

https://uk.yamahamusicsoft.com/sound-and-expansion-libraries

I can't see Yamaha will be giving those away for free.

Perhaps, it's just their own they'll be giving away.

Cheers

Hi Chris

Easysounds are not a Yamaha product
This all is another reason why i am turning to auto sampling  and beyond once i get the hang of it

It doesn't seem to make sense to me and seems suspicious. Why offer all their expansion packs free from next week - it means that nobody is going to buy any between now and then, so why not offer it free from now?

(I don't get the pop window either).

As you will notice it is only Yamaha packs and the ones they are showing are not the best ones but those that are not that popular. No doubt someone will make use of them.

Makes me wondering why there is still no grand piano expansion pack available...
You would think Yamaha itselves would offer a bösendorf imperial..
And 3rd party would offer a Steinway soundset?

I only see 2 packs of upright sounds...

Dont see any "pop up" coming on the screen  , i dont think its true  ( maybe i am wrong)

Yes John I always say you gets what you pay for. Some of the sounds on the new keyboards are that good that you don't need many sampled voices like we did a few years back.

I don't get the popup message so I can't comment on that.

They did give away some of these older packs as part of the "Genos Superior Pack", so there is precedent. It would nice if they gave away one of the bigger packs like vintage keys or celtic, but I can't see that happening :)

Hi Eileen
I am still buried in learning at the moment and will be on the clubs once i get over the hump.
I just shelled out for Samplerobot and the things that can be done with that will save you buying packs.
If you have a computer and a host of vst's, sky is the limit
Robinez and Sokratis has been helping me and with  the now auto mode a few weeks learning and you will be sampling.
I have had one success and three failures so far but that is pilot error where i forgot to follow instructions to the letter. In other words , i bungled!! ;D
Samplerobot does a great  job in cloning vst to sf2 to put in your packs.
Sounds now can be endless and loads more possibilities as well. you do not have to fiddle in Yem with zones . You just have to put a little release or a little tarting with the sliders and bingo.
The Genos can only cover so much and male choirs are not good on Genos.
So i look to Vst and it ain't arf bad.
You need to listen to Robinez Alicia Keys piano and it makes sense to go for Samplerobot
I have looked at others but it exports to a load of formats as well and to me it is a no brainer.
If you are happy with Genos only that is also ok.
I have set a goal to reach before my 70th birthday next March.

All the best
John ;D

MAYBE, they are realizing that we are paying well enough money to buy the arrangers, and they want us to continue?  Korg periodically gives away new Style packages, usually twice a year.
Just thoughts from an old man..... :)

As keyboards improve in sound quality many of us no longer use some of the sample packs as the on board voices are great for most peoples use and with a little tweak in voice set can produce some really good quality voices.

Sample Robot has one downfall..
Its samples are so huge..
Won't fit many of those sounds in my Genos..

Definately true..

However... many of the expansion sounds still fit in well as they are quite unique

But at the current Yamaha prices, i dont think many people would easilly spill €160 on a pack from which they want 4 or 5 voices..
