After you save the MIDI setup to a different name, how does that become "linked" to MM2 on the computer?
Do you copy the saved setup to the computer? 

It's not clear to me (from the first video) how those settings are displayed in MM2.

Compared to other sequence programs Midi Maker is a nice program but it demands a lot of ( extra ) work and makes Midi Maker a very complicated editing prog, IMHO.

Can you share with us what program that can be used with a Yamaha arranger that is less work or less complicated?
I've been using a combination of:
- record quick mode on the keyboard and edit with PSRUTI, MixMaster
- Producer to quick record then add/edit with PSRUTI and MixMaster.
This program seems to be at least a comparable "equal" to Producer and far less frustration potential when playing a song with lots of quick-or-thorny/difficult chord changes.

I herewith would like to thank Richard for all his efforts and time.

I strongly concur with gratitude to Richard for his efforts.
I went from "zero to complete song" this morning in less than an hour.
A minor learning curve on how to designate slash chords, but the "error indicator" in MM when you create the first MIDI is a path to quick fixes using trial-and-error methods.

It has never been my intention to be negative about Richard's self made program. I really admire his knowledge and how he made this prog.

But ... it ain't easy to answer your question though.
It is a very personal choice.

For me Yamaha's XGWORKS is the best midi sequencer ever but all SFF2 styles need conversion ( SFF1 ). The prog has never been updated since 2002. It looks it will never be updated nor upgraded.

Richard's prog can handle all Yamaha styles and that is great.

Is there a method to transpose part or all of a MM song?
Producer has a very nice option.
It's interesting to see that you've used SY*** to send the chord data to the keyboard.  With Producer, there are times when the keyboard doesn't get the data fast enough and things get out of sync.   I've haven't experimented with MM enough to know if that issue also exists with MM, but my HOPE is that SY*** will alleviate the delay in a USB connection, at least on the somewhat outdated gear I use (S910).

In short, a few hours working with MM today and I really like/enjoy what is possible.

At this time there is no transpose feature although that is on the todo list. It should be a simple feature to add. I usually transpose a file with chords and lyrics before I enter it into MM. There are also internet sites that will offer a transpose facility when you look up the chords/lyrics.

Yes the chords are sent as SY*** commands. Remember all we are doing is controlling the keyboard. The keyboard is doing all the work and it needs SY*** chords.
Producer has a different purpose, which is to create a step record file but when you play the song it first has to create a midi file like MM does ie. with SY*** chords before it starts playing the song.

The keyboard can also use the MM file as a song file directly so we can actually do a quick or multi record on the keyboard using the MM file as a starting point.

It is only when we record the song with quick record (Tutorial 3) that the actually note data is generated. The reason for doing this is to generate a standard midi file that can be played with other midi players.

Time is my enemy though. I am working on so many projects right now, mostly video projects, but I will get back to the MM project soon.

Firstly, I generally only create backing tracks for Christian music, usually only hymns and southern/country gospel.  There are lyrics/chords posted for lots of songs all over the internet, but I've never tried to create a backing track using only a chord sheet!  If I don't have a score, I play everything by ear, but that's seldom the case.   But most scores don't have turn-arounds or modulate and I use modulate frequently when the song has 3+ verses.

I can do it outside of MM, so it really isn't a "must have".   If you are able to include it at some point, I'll likely use it but it won't stop me from using the current version.
