In a 4/4 beat a 2/4 beat possible

Hello Genos 2 team,


I want to buy a Genos 2 for Christmas.

Is it possible to play in a 4/4 beat-style a 2/4 beat?

In some songs there is in between 2 4/4 beats a 2/4 beat. I have a Tyros 4 and i was not possible to do that.

Is it at the Genos2 in every style possible to to a 2/4 beat (break or ??) or is it necessary that the style has to be programmed for this feature?

Hi Ronny,

Genos2 has a "Style Section Reset" function (also available on Genos1 V2.0), which is normally assigned to the [Tap Tempo] button. (Can be set to ON or OFF under "Menu > Metronome > Tap Tempo > Style Section Reset".) This allows you to reset the style to the first beat while playing, e.g. to skip beats 3 and 4 in a 4/4 beat.

This function can also be assigned to a footswitch or an assignable button. It is ideal if you use a footswitch, see this videos:

Genos 2, and all keyboards next to Genos 1 implements Style Section Time Signature, which means you can make any signature to any style parts:
So, if you need a break of 2/4 in a style which you made as 4/4, you can make this, because style engine permits that. My Genos 1 does not permit that and I need to use that half break option, which is not what I want every time, and is somehow difficult in some condition to use it.
So, use your Style Creator and do what you want with Style Section Time Signature in any parts you want, FillIn, Break, Intro, etc.

I personally want that feature, because East European music uses that in most songs, have different time signatures, or half breaks, that's the only feature that perhaps will make me change my keyboard and upgrade it! Oh, I forgot the portamento, which was definitely upgraded with a lot of parameters 😂

Not only 2/4. As I said, you can make whatever you want:
Supposing you have a style made in 4/4 and you need a double measure break or fill, as we know you can't do it in Genos and lower models, (or you can but with some advanced editing). However, in the new style engine, you can write a break of 8/4 (which means 2 x 4/4). And that's it, you will have a double measure long break 



As you see, there are some "standard" measure types and with those arrows you can set it over how much you want: 2/4, 16/4, 2/2, 8/2, 6/8, 12/8, 24/8 etc.

Hi Ronny,

For the sake of completeness, I would like to mention here that the Genos2 has the "Half Bar Fill In" function. This can be assigned to a Footswitch or an Assignable Button. Here are the instructions from the Genos2 Reference Manual, page 142 (section "Assignable Functions"):

Half Bar Fill In (Control Type)

While this function is on, changing sections of a Style at the first beat of the current section starts the next section from the middle with an automatic fill-in. NOTE When you select an Audio Style, the function does not work.

Yup, like Val said: Genos 2 (and PSRA5000) allow 4 different time signatures within the same style. Never mind 2/4, 4/4... you could do 3/4,4/4 and 7/8 in the same style!
