Loud keys

The keys of my Genos 2 are quite noisy, that means there is a clack noise, if I press a key and a second one, if I release the key. I don't know, if this is normal or an issue with my Genos. As attachment there is a record of the noises. Of course it is difficult to judge the absolute value of the loudness, because it depends on the record and play level. But for me it's so loud that I can hear it clearly, if I play on a low output level.
Best regards

Hi Wibem

It sounds normal to me.  You should record into your device using a cable rather than using the devices inbuilt mic.

I have a similar problem on my Genos 2. The keys hit very hard when released. The weight of the keys is too heavy and the fast scores are played stupidly. I already addressed this here in another thread, but no one was able to advise me. My friend's Genos 2 doesn't have this problem and the spring is noticeably lighter and nicer and the sound when the keys are released is quieter/softer similar to my Genos 1 that I gave to my son.

I think you also hit on a piece that has hard springs. Just like me. I think it is a problem of a certain series of Genosu 2 in production, when the spring steel is not hardening properly. Apparently they fixed it in the next series.

In addition, after comparing my Genos 2 and my friend's Genos 2, I noticed that mine has a significantly rougher and worse case spray, while his is beautifully smooth. It seems that the quality standard at Yamaha is very variable during production and seems to me to have dropped since the release of the Genos 2. As if they started saving paint and keyboard grease.

hello Vlada,
As far we know, Genos1 and Genos2 are supposed to have the same keybed -that is, at Genos2 introduction, Yamaha didn't mentioned there were some changes made.
So yes, it's quite possible that there's a quality control problem. The question is, does that happen randomly in the same factory (for all markets), or it depends where keyboard is made (for what markret).

I think it would be maybe more informative for us, if such complain would also contain where keyboard was bought (Europe, US, Canada, etc.) and where it was made (Made in where).
Otherwise it can happen, that for example, all owners from US will say, that you're only imagining things -because nobody in US has the same problem.

Hi Viada
I would urge you to contact Yamaha Technical Support in your country.  We can make a comment and sympathise with you but we will not be able to fix the problem. You should also contact the shop that you bought it from.

Hello,

Genos 2 is bought in Europe and is Made in China.
It's not exactly a fault, but the keyboard just has a bad feel and is noisy. It's like over-salting food.
Compared to the Genos 1, Tyros 3 and Tyros 5 keyboards. I was recently in a music store where they unboxed the Genos 2 for me to try out. And the keyboard had a good feel like on my Genos 1. The springs in the keys were softer. Also, the black body finish of the Genos 2 in the store was even worse quality than mine.

Vlada, thank you for additional info.

Not good to hear.. questionable keyed, unexpected finish... in such case one cannot just say "it can happen". Genos is a premium Yamaha arranger and I definitely wouldn't expect that. A while back I have tried Genos1 in a store and I was genuinely impressed -must be said.
I hope you will solve the problem.
