Has anyone here done this? Is this very hard to do? Ive seen examples of this on youtube and Im intrigued at having an audio file of say Billy Joel play (sing) while you play the song on your keyboard. Im sure there are a number of things to set up to get this to work correctly.  I did mange to extract the vocals from a song and save to multipad. Heres and example. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=playing+audio+multipad+with+a+style#fpstate=ive&ip=1&vld=cid:b1a8f3ea,vid:FFj1Wb2g7dw,st:0

Jcort154,

It takes a bit to get the timing right. I find the easiest way is to put the vocal wav file in Audacity and clip any dead space off the front. Then bring it back to the keyboard and make it into a multipad and tie it in with your style/registration. I then use a pedal to start the multipad instantly when I push it. This eliminates trying to time in the dead space. Just play with the tempo of the style until it syncs up perfectly, by either slowing it down or speeding it up to match the vocal multipad.
Here is a sample of Bob Seger's Still The Same. I made the style with the new Midi Song to Style software from Yamaha.

Thanks Rick. Pretty good job with that. I see what you mean about the timing and tempo of the midi/style and audio multipad. Maybe Ill try a simple short song first. Also, can you tie an audio multipad to a style?

Jcort154,

Thanks! As far as I know only as a Multipad, but it may be possible in a MIDI as well. I have some songs I have done with the Multipad of vocals set to automatically start when the Style starts, Everything is memorized into the Registration. It's a little more difficult and the Style has to be played exactly as the original song or it won't work.
