Hi to all

It has been great to have this new Genos 2 but it comes with a lot of teething problems and a lot of pilot error. :o ::) :P :D

I have managed to load in some Easy sound packs into  Genos 2 Expansion which took a while through wi-fi but eventually got it going.
I have managed to get Genos 2 to record in Cubase 13 and works perfectly once the settings are all ok.
Now Yem does work in sound edit but has poor volume and latency without an external sound interface.
When i link to my Focusrite 6i6 to Yem the sound is just what it should be, but again, latency when trying out sound changes in Yem edit.
My Focusrite is set up perfectly and no matter what millisecond adjustment i make, Yem still has sound edit latency, so it must be the program itself.
Also the Save does not work, indicated by that floppy disc icon in top right hand corner. Save
I tried to phone up Yamaha today and guess what,---- Yes you may have well guessed, no human now to answer you and now a message to say email us. :o >:(  This to me is because people are flooding Yamaha with Tech questions. ;D
If Yamaha got it right first time they would have an easier life. ;D
When will they sort Yem out? Next year or perhaps the year after. :P ::)
I would like to know  what this new Audio Interface does as there is again no mention of it in the manuals.

So for me waiting for the Yem pack fiasco to be solved is not a big problem.
The sound edit problem is annoying but not a big worry for now as i have a lot of other things to keep me going.

Up to now that is about it. Knowing how to use REvelation has changed the game a lot in Genos 2.

All the best
John :)

Hi John...

So....
Overall, how would you compare G2 to G1, your first impressions minus any technical issues?

First impressions as a sit and play person are WOW what a sound. It is so alive and crystal clear. The new drums are awesome and it is a shear pleasure to play.

Eileen, did you buy new speakers with it or are they the same speakers you used with the Genos1.

Hi Tommy

Eileen is totally right by saying that first impressions are wow for sit and play.
But first i had to look into REvelation and adjust the level for the piano's and then wow it really opens the spaciousness and does not sound like your in a bathroom.
The sounds are now excellent
My little complaints are that Yem is not great at all at the moment and when trying to edit a sound and play the keyboard to test before saving you get latency which is annoying and i cannot save a sound yet. To me it is Yem not the Genos 2
As with any new thing nowadays things are never quite finished and Yamaha use us as beta testers, i am sure of that.
I could not get on the phone to Yamaha today as they are blocked up with calls and a voice blurts out to say Email us. Well that could be ages before a reply.
Genos 2 integrates with Cubase 13 just fine.
I have been doing a lot of sit and play and adjusting the EQ.
I am somewhere very near to being satisfied with it and the sound is so good which now makes me wonder how much updating i will have to do to my Genos1  registrations.

All in all the Genos 2 is a big step away from Genos 1 in my opinion. the sound is so clear and as Eileen says the drums are fantastic.
This machine to me is mindblowing for the price. A lot of power in front of you combined with Cubase 13.
I would like to see a lot more people reporting as it seems to be slowing down.

It's subjective.

To my ears it sounds absolutely exactly the same, just with a few new effects (and EQ tweaks). The piano might be more nuanced but very hard to notice unless using a weighted keyboard, and on a non side-by-side comparision, you'll say it's the same piano. Still, pro users csn resort to external piano libraries if extra dinamic nuances is the goal.

The Genos 1 real reverb is very VERY sweet and lush (from their high end studio digital mixers), and no bathroom sounds like that. Also, the ambience captured by overhead mics usually does (it's the quick short reflections that give punch (hass psyco acoustic effect) because the room is like a bathroom.

New effects are not a game changer for those like me using the 6 analog outs and inserting external processing. Can the new REV beat a Briscasti unit?

A better leslie simulator, catch fader drawbars and more advanced automation would be a game changer in such a crippled amazing potencial unfinished machine. Crippled again!
