maybe it's not a new keyboard but it's a new Genos Christmas tree at the moment I only see flickering lights 😁😁

JohnS (Ugawoga)

What do you reckon we will get on Genos trade in for Genos 2??
I would be happy at £2000
Genos, I7 computer 32 gig ram, Focusrite 6i6, Cubase controller, Focal Alpha Monitors, Yamaha DXR8 Speakers
Cubase 10, Sonarworks, Izotope.  Sampletank, Arturia and Korg software.  Now IK Mixbox

ton37

Maybe you get 4000 for your keyboard? But if the new device costs 9000, you won't get much out of it. It just depends on whether the dealer can earn enough to be able to sell the old Genos at the then current market value.
With a trade-in, it is not about how much you get back for your Genos, it is more important to know how much extra you have to pay.
My best regards,
Ton

Are there other members who think we hear a new nylon guitar in this teaser?

I hear a new nylon guitar. It sounds smoother between the notes, more natural.

It doesn't seem like they have much to say??

If I were Yamaha, I would save the big changes for November 15th.

Under promise, over deliver.

Must say, besides the lights on the knobs, it looks exactly like a Genos 1 so far.

Could have fooled me, mister.

???

We need some Peter Baartmans to show us what it can do.

It would be nice but I don't think it will be as much as that to be honest.
Considering I sold and bought a Genos second hand for less than £2500 privately, I think £1500 as what has been mentioned will be absolute tops from the big shops like Bonners.
Maybe even £1300 - 1400.  :'(

in terms of p/X I think around 2100, the reason for this is, they will get a back hand from yamaha and their has to be a bridge between the tyros and genos, T5 still sell for around 2k in the stores second hand genos £2800. So for instance if the new genos is  £4.5k and you got 1500 for a genos the market would stall and people will hang on their instruments.
Epianos have been the most transparent with p/x. Scan won`t accept p/x but sell with small margins.
What you have to consider is what support you will get from the dealers especially when newly launched, also what numbers will they have? Korg pa5x was in short supply at launch.

I agree; it will add to the WOW factor!

It might be the way the camera is angled but to me the keys look  longer and thinner :o

The hand and buttons are also very long.

Thanks for your pricing.
I suppose a 6 year old keyboard price 0f £1500 would be fair trade in top condition.
If it was a car you probably get £150 offered ;D
The new Genos will be ,i think £5000 here in uk which i will go for.
Losing £3500 in 6 years is not bad at all. Considering  all the enjoyment over that time.

Roll on 15th

Ps   A note to OXFORD. Swindon did not look interested today .
I put £10 on Swindon to score 4 goals  and won £50  but we lost to a Vanerama team 7-4 lol!!!! ;D

Hoping for major improvements, most of which have been mentioned.  However, if Yamaha undelivers, at least my Genos 1 might fetch more on resale, as more folks might be looking for a used board if the differences between G1 and G2 don't justify to them the large price difference.

I think more like £4300 about 20 % increase of the price when lanched.

The montage 76 was £ 3000 when launched the new one £3629 about 20% increase.

Might be totally wrong!!

Just be glad you didn't put a tenner on them to win by 4 goals 😉

JohnS (Ugawoga)

Hi Oxford
Yes, what an embarrasment as it was the first game i been to this year. Must not grumble got £50 for a tenner!!
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW GENOS!! :)

Hi
I reckon the sounds will be like the Montage as the rotary knobs have same casino chip style lighting around them the same as the Montage.
There are some similarities then

I'm speculating here, but I'm pretty sure the new Genos will "Borrow" the following from the Montage:

* 400-Note Polyphony
* Polyphonic Aftertouch (watch a YT video on this feature on the Montage, and you will be blown away)
* Twice the memory over its predecessor with an increase from 5.67GB to 9.97GB of Preset Wave memory, and an increase from 1.75 to 3.8GB of User flash memory.
* [VCM ROTARY AND DRAWBAR BEHAVIOR] Using sophisticated modeling technology, the VCM Rotary Speaker effect simulates the rich and enveloping motion of a Classic rotary speaker cabinet. Plus, the new organ drawbar fader setting simulates the vintage "pull out" drawbar organ behavior

Just received my Montage 8Mx last week and the improvements over the original Montage are huge.  I love the new keybed on the 88 version, and the revised UI is much nicer.  Here's hoping that we'll see major improvements for the Genos 2 as well!

Great news with your new M8x,

I feel exactly the same on both counts after having my M8x for just over a week now, I hope Yamaha pull it out of the bag with Genos 2 and if they do, my PA5X may very well be sold. :)

Thomann is selling the Genos 1 new for £3280. This really doesn't bode well for trade in prices I think.

I'm speculating here, but I'm pretty sure the new Genos will "Borrow" the following from the Montage:

    * 400-Note Polyphony
The Montage M's "400-Note Polyphony" consists of:
           AWM2: 128 (Internal Voices) + 128 (Expansion Voices) = 256 (which we already have on the Genos1)
           FM-X: 128
           AN-X: 16

I fear that with the Genos 2 the AWM2 polyphony will remain at 128 + 128 stereo/mono waveforms and that no additional tone generator engines such as FM-X or AN-X will be added.

    Quote
    * Polyphonic Aftertouch (watch a YT video on this feature on the Montage, and you will be blown away)
Polyphonic Aftertouch (PAT) is only available on the Montage M8x. If there is a Genos2 with 88 keys, I see a small chance that it could have PAT. In any case, the previous FSX keyboard cannot generate a PAT.

    Quote
    * Twice the memory over its predecessor with an increase from 5.67GB to 9.97GB of Preset Wave memory, and an increase from 1.75 to 3.8GB of User flash memory.
The internal memory for Preset waveforms should definitely be significantly larger on Genos2 than on Genos1, simply because better Piano samples have to be added. And the size of the Expansion memory (Genos1 already has 3 GB) would also have to be increased significantly. It's also time for the user or third-party manufacturers of Expansion packs to have a way to compress the samples in a space-saving way that only Yamaha can do so far.

    Quote

Yes, Genos2 definitely needs much better Organ voices. If Yamaha fails again here, I see no hope of the new model being successful.

    Best regards,
    Chris

The major music stores never sell their stock in their webshop at 'dump prices'. Then they would lose the credibility of their customers. So those prices are not always indicative of a product that is EOL. Over time, their remaining stock goes to third parties (buyers, (un)recognizable sister companies or similar constructions). Sometimes they try again via so-called 'refurbished or demo' prices.
The prices of the large 'second-hand offers'-online marketplaces are often somewhat leading. That is usually also the reference channel for many music stores for a possible trade-in.  8)
    My best regards,
