Second Genos 2 teaser reveals very little ...

Here are some of my comments
- Certainly this is a screen with the ability to change viewing angles similar to the Tyros 5. You can see that it is quite large. (I'm not sure if the screen bezels are as thick as the Tyros 5).
The right side is where my thumb is. It is the serrated groove to adjust the tilt or completely lower the screen. The mechanism of action is the same as Tyros 5

- In this photo. Obviously Yamaha has reused the industrial design prototype of the current Genos. Still has a body like a spaceship. The underside is definitely white. Because there isn't any light shining in, it's still clear, brighter than the top.
Additionally, the overall ratio between the keyboard and the man is quite uneven. This keyboard looks much more compact than the current Genos. Unless the man in the photo is a giant. (Is this the 61 key version???)

- I spent time reviewing the Genos demo videos to find a similar angle to the video Yamaha just released. In the photo are two quite large men. But the ratio between them and Genos is still different from the "giant" in the video that Yamaha just released. So it can be seen that this Genos 2 (?) will have a smaller overall size than the current Genos? Or is it the 61 keyboard version?

I think we hear a Genos2 sound.

I think we see a Genos2 with a big screen, perhaps a 61 keys version.

But if finally, it's a Genos1 keyboard that we see, I would be happy if Genos2 comes as a main hardware and software update (like the last high-end electone)

After 6 years and the same case like the Genos , that's a big disappointment .
Soryt,
Indeed it is a big disappointment!!!
They have had 6 years to read the wishes and especially the comments of the Genos users in particular, and boy did they raise their middle finger!
It has been said several times and also here on this forum that Genos is something for home players, and indeed that is true if you look especially at the outside!
That doesn't mean the sound quality isn't good, it's more than decent!!
The top finish will certainly be the same, and now the same toy buttons and the party is complete!
One thing is certain: the "Genos" designer can be thrown out immediately!
Even the SX900-700 top finish and knobs are better!
Why not the "Montage" housing? how stupid can one be!!!

I'm totally satisfied and I like the Genos case as it is.

Oh well, in general. Why can people be 'quite emotional' about a product based on assumptions and prejudices regarding video clips in which you can barely see anything and which only suggest something??? Expressing your concerns or hopes is from a different dimension. ;)
My best regards,

In that photo, if you look at what you can see of the keyboard and count the groups of black keys, it looks like this is a 6 octave keyboard, so likely 76 keys.

Hello Snicker 740,

I am surprised that in the photo where you position your hand, we see what appears to be a plexi sheet music holder whereas in the Yamaha video, we cannot see it.
Is there any reason that could explain this?

Christian, I think that is not the plexiglass, it is just the video playback line on the monitor screen!

Yamaha has done an excellent job of keeping the G2 under wraps. It is T-17 days, and we don't know anything about it: MSRP, MAP, Street Price, size(61, 76, 88 keys?), features, colors, NOTHING!
Even the teasers reveal nothing, so it seems that they are trying to conceal it until D-Day; I wonder why? I expect something extraordinary to be displayed on Nov 15!
:)

Hello Yama,

You're right, it's the lead line from the Y.T video
Thank you for this explanation

Yes, it looks like a tilt up screen and is wide as the player.
I bet this new Genos will have a massive screen to edit and read music possibly :)

Good evening,

I reassure you, now is the time for speculation and after November 16, it will be the time for criticism (not enough of this, too much of this, the violins... the pianos... the keyboard... 76 keys ...61...88...).
So you have to spend your time well.

Still 15 days to go. Courage !!!!

Intended purpose ??. The purpose of the forum is just an an exchange of views and information between Yamaha arranger owners. I don't think that rules out speculation.

Hello!

Who am I?    I'll tell you.  I AM  that "home keyboard player" that Yamaha makes their arrangers for. Yes, it is I!!

Yamaha owes no one any explanation.  Years ago they made a product that was originally little more than a toy. I was in high school when my family started buying the earliest PSR's.  Maybe it was even pre-PSR. Every few years as the new models came out my family upgraded. My Dad still has my PSR3000.  I bought him the PSR-SX900 last year and he still plays it daily!   We could only afford the cheaper models but everyone in the whole family had a blast playing them. I could only dream of a PSR740..........we probably had the PSR340!!

As the years went by these toys started sounding better and better.  Pretty soon real musicians were using them too. And those real musicians started demanding improvements to these home keyboards. I hope Yamaha keeps listening to the pros because as a home player I benefit too. But..........I also hope they don't make things to complicated for a guy like me.

There are still those that don't take arrangers seriously. I had a neighbor tell me recently that he thought my Genos was the best karaoke machine he has ever seen!!  AAARGH!!!!   I've always felt sort of special when I'm on the music forums.  We are quite the mixed bunch.........professional or not and we all have fun playing in the same sandbox.  Is there room in that sandbox for another arranger or two?   Bring em on!!!      -charley

I don't know how to explain. But I can be sure that the Yamaha Genos 2 (?) will have a vari-angle screen like the Tyros 5.

Hello Sniker 740,

I thank you for your answer.
In fact, the screen will not be movable.
It will be inclined, wider than the previous one and fixed as we see in the short video, so it will not be removable like that of the T5.

Good day

Hi
Yo think like me .
It has to be a vari screen to be banked up as in the picture.
There has got to be a way of putting the screen flat for transportation.
From the width of the banked up screen on photo, it seems quite a size to be the width of the player. :)
There could be some element of truth in the aab video's.

I don't think arrangers was built for home use. This is a wrong perception of this type of keyboard. I don't use it at home, and I think most of us use the arrangers in gigs, parties, and so on. It will substitute multi-players band by starting a style, using it. It cannot be done easily with a synth, IMO. A Home instrument I will see more like a piano, or some other instruments with keyboard that are very hard to take it to gigs or parties and you must keep it in home or studio. (or home-studio  :D ) For a couple of us this represents a JOB, where we earn money using this arranger, so that's why we want to explore more than a home user which will put the score on a tablet and sing what they see. We have a lot of styles made for parties, we sing different genres, some of us sings more like ethnic music, depends on each country and people who sing for.

Cheers,
Vali

If they didn't do a tiltable screen, that is a very sad news. After a lot of complaints about this stupidity on Genos 1, to keep the same thing on Genos 2 after 7 years, I think they are stupid engineers. Sorry for that, but is my opinion.

Vali

Of course arrangers are meant for home players as much as gigging musicians. Why should a home player not want to arrange things and create voices and styles that suit them as well as adding various effects. We may not want to use work stations but we certainly enjoy arranging things.

I have never read so much rubbish in my life
Arrangers were built for all keyboard players according to Martin Harris, If you think keyboard players are going to pay out for organs encased with wood like furniture that can't fit in their homes because they are too big then you are deluded, you don't arrange or compose music whilst you are gigging you do that at home or in your studio not on stage so the arranger is for the home/studio, as well as for gigging. Do not try to belittle home players with you comments because they don't go down very well in here, and I can assure you there are many home players far better than some called "Professional players / people who play for money"

iulistil2

I think that the major changes will be inside the machine, to electronic processors, changes to the operating system, and on the front panel, Yamaha was harshly criticized for that fixed Genos1 display, some had to improvise a kind of canopy to protect the screen by the rays of light reflected from the ceiling of the room!, there is a great need for a display with adjustable tilt and also as large as possible, otherwise the exterior side and rear design was probably kept for several reasons which are: the shape of Genos1 (boat ) is a shape that uses less plastic material for the case, so it's easier to transport, which I like! Another reason why Yamaha kept almost the same shape is it will save money, the costs will be lower if an existing mold is used, after all the shape underneath is not as important as that adjustable display, maybe they changed something at that matte black that deteriorates too quickly when you put it too often in the same place, wear appears, you practically polish the surface that is normally matte!

As he posted initially, I understand that Yamaha built arrangers only for home users, and the PRO's only take them and use them in studio or in Gigs, which is deffinitelly wrong. And, Yes, maybe in my post it was somehow understood that the arrangers are built only for pro, not for home users. I must correct myself, and say it is built for both type of users, but this means it must also include pro functions and parameters, which maybe a home user does not understand.
Sorry for initial "understanding" of what i've typed.
