Please help answer this for me. When I had my Tyros keyboards it seemed there were more variations of drumming parts than in the Genos. Was something removed from the Genius so there are less variations while playing?

No many of the styles you would have had on Tyros. There are more drum kits on Genos though.

Not that I'm aware of Ken. Yamaha has been very good at helping users to move to the next level keyboard pretty seamlessly. That is, most of your registrations are remapped to the new keyboard fairly well. You must still go in to each one and fine tune them to make sure they work okay. Having said that, this means Yamaha would need to maintain a high level of continuity in their intros, fills, endings etc...They may have thinned out some of the fills to make them a little less cluttered but I doubt they would have eliminated so much as to make the fills sound anemic.

Perhaps you could give specific examples of styles that seem radically different?

Maybe it's just me but on the Tyros if playing a style,, let's say part c, it would intuitively change patterns. Am I right? Or is it something I just imagined?

Sre you saying that the drums sound the same in all variations? That eould not be normal.

Are you talking of just the drum tracks or the whole style. Styles usually build as you go through variations so D is much busier than A.

Folks, another possibility is the fill settings. Isn't there a setting where you can have a variation triggered without a fill? I thought I saw that somewhere. That would certainly be a game changer. Perhaps Ken's Genos is set that way?

The auto fill-in button is very visible on the Genos.

Regarding fills and registrations:

If you are using Registrations to change from one variation to the other, you can have it do so with or without fills.

With the rhythm stopped, switch to the registration in question, then look at the Variation buttons (A-D).  If it is flashing, the registration will switch the rhythm with a a fill-in.  If it is solid, it will switch to that variation withOUT a fill-in.

Confused me for a long time.
