DRIVE IS BUSY - memory problem with my DGX-650

For months now I have been dealing with an issue on my DGX-650 which I believe is related to the unit's memory.

The usual circumstance is that while recording my first song of the day the recording stops(usually about two minutes into the song) and the screen reports a DRIVE IS BUSY message.

Then I re-record the song as an overwrite and it usually works fine.

But today when I tried a few recordings the DRIVE IS BUSY message was popping up just as I was starting to play.   I have tried a number of things including deleting styles and songs that are in the keyboard but this memory problem seems to be increasing rather than lessening.

My reading of the user manual doesn't seem to discuss the unit's memory and I wonder if there is any resource online that discusses this.

Any help from a DGX owner would be appreciated here.

thanks in advance,

Larry

Hi Larry --

Flash memory writes (records) much slower than it reads (plays). That is a characteristic of (NAND) flash memory technology.

I try to use flash memory drives which the manufacturer has designed, tested and rated for fast write speed.

Hope this helps -- pj
