Hello,

Genos cannot use a non preset style in Step Edit.
Looking for another way to record a midi from a midi file playing synchro with a style, I created a method that makes it possible to do it with a PC, MixMaster and  Genos (eventually XGWorks could be helpful too).
The pdf explaining this method can be downloaded at following link :

Please contact me if any problem

Etienne

Hello Etienne,

did you already had a look at Producer?
https://wierzba.homepage.t-online.de/producer/producermain.htm

With Producer you can play a midi file containing melody and chords together with a Genos playing a style.
This can be recorded on the Genos or, more easily and exact, "expanded" to a full midi file.

This should also work with non preset styles. As I do not have a Genos I can not verify it.

Peter

Hello Peter,

I know the program Producer. I have it on my PC.
But as programmer of MixMaster, which I can set to my hand, it works much easier for me.
I also use some 'User created sy***' commands for my event processor.
These sy***'s can easily be inserted in MixMaster.

Genos can NOT use non preset styles (user styles) in step edit.
As I mostly work with user styles or modified styles, this too poses a problem working with Producer.

Something that would be interesting in Producer is to save the midi file not only as a Step Edit file, but also as a normal midi file that includes all the chords, sections, ...

Hello Etienne,

it is no problem to add storing a normal midi file to Producer.
The function itself is already present. When you play a file in Producer such a midi file is created in the background before playing starts.
It is stored here (or in a similar place depending on your Windows) : C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Producer\Producer_Play.mid
So you can test already if it will fulfill your needs.

Just being curiously, what happens on the Genos when you load and try to expand a Step Edit file from Producer where the selected style is "Select on PSR"?
Is there an error message from the Genos or does it just not work?

Peter

Yes that file is usefull.

There is no error, but the style jumps to the default style 'SkyPop', and the expanded file is made with this style.
