Any recommendations for connecting a mic to my keyboard
I have limited space and only home use. Is there one that attaches to keyboard stand?

I have my keyboard on a double scissor square leg stand.

What kind of use do you need (Singing, PA, etc.)?

I use my mic for PA only and have an unusual setup for it--but it's not for everybody. (I'll share it if/when there's interest.)

I use a regular mic stand that stands on the floor.

The important bit you forgot to mention is what type of stand do you use.

My mic setup is for PA (talking). The mic is cabled and hangs fairly inconspicuously from the keyboard stand inside a neat holder. When I want to talk, I just reach over, grab the mic, turn it on, and talk. This eliminates hauling around bulky equipment. (Won't appeal to many giggers. I can supply more info and pictures for anybody interested. )

Hi I use a stand that screws to my keyboard stand and it works a treat. I got it from a very well known online shopping site, Cost about £10.
Hope this helps
John.

Thread starter didn't come back, so I assume, he isn't interested anymore, or he found a solution. Anyway, for those who will look for X-stand microphone solution in this forum...

It's good to know what brand the stand is, because most brands also provide add-on's  for their stands. If that's not the case, then you should check for other brands stand accessories. In this case however, you should check the dimensions, so you make sure it will fit on your stand.

In most cases, you will probably need to buy two parts. First is "universal" holder, like this:

-once you have that, you can attach almost anything on it.
In this case an microphone boom arm:

Combo above is about 45€.

The problem with nearly all keyboard stand mic attachments is that unless you play very light handed every click of the keys and switch changes is transmitted through the stand to the mic and is very perceptible.

Of course, this is not a problem with a stand along mic stand, which takes up very little floor space and can be positioned where it is needed.

Better yet, try using a headset mic. No stand, no problem finding the correct mic position, very good feedback rejection.

All the best,

Hi Gary,

I mostly agree about mic being attached to keyboard stand. But it also depends on many factors.. for example, dynamic microphones aren't really that sensible in this regard -if we don't hit too hard and if whole assembly well built. And in case of (large) condenser microphone, there's "shock mount" recommended anyway.

Yes, separate mic stand is always better and more versatile. But if stand is any good, it will have quite wide spread legs and in small room, every square inch counts. So we just need to make compromises and see what works for us.
About headset mic... honestly, no matter what advertisement says, these aren't really meant for singing. But then again: we use, whatever works best for us.

Just sharing my thoughts,
Bogdan

Bogdan, The Crown CM-311A was designed specifically for singers. It was engineered and designed specifically for none other than Garth Brooks, who is a well known country singer. I used one for more than two decades and loved it much more than any handheld mic I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of hand held mics during more than 3 decades as an on stage performer, singer and musician.

I agree, that there are lots of head set mics that are not good for singers, but work well for lecturers and speakers such as church ministers. But there are some very, very good headset mics available for singers that far exceed the specs of many popular handheld models.
