I presume those available from Yamaha for the Tyros and Genos won't load on the 900 and if not are there any available elsewhere?

Actuality if a creator make sounds using samples and not the ROM waveforms of the keyboard, then what is created for Genos or Tyros 5 is compatible with SX900.
Everything YEM compatible must be SX900 compatible.
Only limitation is the flash memory size.

In any case I found this on eBay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/PROTEUS-Vintage-Keys-Expansion-Pack-for-Yamaha-Genos-Tyros-5-PSR-etc/193922523825
Including sound sampled from an EM-U sound module.

Hi Stuart,

you can try the free Voices (.ppf format) on Peter Schips' site "CMS Sounddesign":

>>> http://cms-sounddesign.de/page132_en.html

Best regards,
Chris

I currently own the Yamaha Vintage keys pack for Genos and a third-party pack of Organ voices. I guess I'll see if they'll import via YEM.

Thanks Chris but these voices are basic ones similar to whats already in the SX900. I'm looking for better Rhodes and Suitcase pianos from the 60s and 70s as well as a complete set of Hammond organ variations.

If you have packs you purchased for Tyros 5 or Genos before the free ones came along they will load into SX900. The free ones won't as the code has been altered and the packs must be for the particular keyboard you have.

This is great news. All the packs I purchased from Yamaha or third-party providers we're bought several years ago.

Hi. Attached is an RGT from a Tyros 5. Can't name the organ but from 70s as far as I know.
Hope you can make use.

StuartR,

Have you looked at Easy Sounds?  These are professionally programmed sounds by a Yamaha sound designer.

Just click on the pack that you may be interested in and listen to the demos.  I have several of these packs and they are awesome.

Thanks Joe. As a matter of fact I have a lot of Easy Sound packs for my Genos and they are really good. I believe they're in ppf format so I'll see if they load on the 900. Otherwise I can always purchase the sx900 versions.

Hi Stuart,

just contact Easy Sounds: If a Genos Pack is also available for PSR-SX900, you can get the SX900 version for free.

If you bought packs for the Genos you should have download links already for the sx900.

The SX900 came on the market after the Genos. If Stuart had already bought the Genos Packs before Easy Sounds had created the SX900 versions in question, Stuart would only have received the PSR-S versions with the Genos version. But, as I said, he should now also get the SX900 versions on request. :)

P.S.
It is possible that the .ppf files of different instruments are identical (or "almost identical"). But in order to achieve the best possible result, I recommend, as I said, asking Easy Sounds about the SX900 versions of the individual Packs.

Best regards,
Chris
