Three days ago I suffered a small stroke and was hospitalized for a day while an MRI helped show what blood vessel in my brain had collapsed.
I now have weakness and loss of dexterity on my left side.  Trying to play my keyboard, the DGX 650 is not going well.  I am wondering whether others have gone through this and rallied back.
Any tips/tricks could be helpful.

Had a TIA about a year ago, spent a day in the hospital, had some short term memory loss, but no physical effects other than speech was a bit slurred for a couple weeks. However, I suffer from distal neuropathy, which is brutally painful in my feet and not effecting my hands. Consequently, I hit a lot of wrong chords on the keyboard because I can barely feel my finger tips.

Good luck, and I hope you regain your playing ability,

I had two strokes, one in 2009 and one in 2010.  They were more than a tia..     Each person is effected differently..  The BEST thing you can do is the physical therapy they prescribe.

Do it even more.. You may be tempted to bypass it, because it doesn't give an immediate effect..  But keep it up..   I ended up doing 6 months..  and it made a great difference. Only a neurologist could tell I have had a stroke..  If I get run down, don't eat well, artifacts come back..  My main problem is I tip over if I walk in complete darkness.

I have to practice scales, inversions etc, from time to time, if my dexterity starts to get sloppy..  I looked at my situation, as an opportunity to study arranging and production more..
Although I can't play as well as when I was 20 with a DAW, I can record my best, sand fix things..

Us that are seniors just have to make the best of what our current situation is..   Good luck

I thank those that have replied.
It's now been a bit over 3 months since my stroke.  Most of my strength has returned and I'm back to playing my DGX-650 every day.  My left hand skills, never a strong suit for me, are still a bit off but it's noticeably better than it was the first few weeks.

I did two months of PT which also helped.

My penmanship still sucks (I write lefty and that was the affected side) but as a friend pointed out: "Nobody writes things out anymore."

Larry

I had one on December 7, 2020.
Two days in hospital.
Left side of my body has been damaged like most of you, I guess.

Thanks to PT I recovered for approx. 99% procent. :)
Stopped immediately ( on Dec 7, 2020 ) my smoking addiction.

Best wishes, JH
