Good morning everyone. ;)
My name is Juan Gonzales, excuse my English, I am from Peru and my native language is Spanish.
I have a Yamaha psr sx700, but am thinking of buying a psr 2100 which is almost intact. I want to buy it because there are some nostalgic sounds for me.
But I read a lot about this model and I see that many people have a problem that makes the keyboard stop working, I have seen and there are several error reports with this keyboard model compared to other psr series.
I have the doubt whether to buy it.
By the way, in the store they offer me a 1 year warranty, what do users of this machine advise me?
Thank you for reading.

Welcome to the forum!
MANY years ago I used the 2100 for a year or so with no problems whatsoever.  However, the more modern arrangers are miles better, from sounds, to styles,  to features, to operating system and especially to storage.
The 2100 was out about the time they started making software upgrades available and I don't recall for sure but maybe that model was one of the first where it was possible.  Up until then any updates had to be done mechanically.  As a result there weren't many.
The 2100 had just a few improvements over the 2000, which I used for a couple of years.
Any sounds the 2100 had that you like can be found, or loaded, or made in any of the modern arrangers.  The SX700 you have is many, many times better than the 2100.

Hello Juan :)
I have a PSR-2100, that I have had since 2003. Never had a problem with it.
It is a very good keyboard, and I still have mine, and it is working perfectly.
But keep in mind that it has a FLOPPY DISC DRIVE, and you must check if this is working, or you will not be able to import styles or MIDI files to it. If the floppy disc drive is still working, the problem is to get floppy discs, as thesa are becoming rare now!
It may be that they have changed the floppy disc drive with a floppy disc emulator. You will then be able to use USB sticks, but the emulator functions in a certain way that can be complicated. Another problem you may get is that the light behind the display may fail. It can be replaced with LED strips, but you have to have a good deal of technical skill to do that.

If the price is not too high and they give you one year warranty, that is positive. But if you only are after the sounds, I would check if those sounds are not on your keyboard, in the legacy folder.

The 2100 is special, I love mine, and will never part with it, but I have newer keyboards that I play every day now :)

Let us know what you decide :)

All the best from Toril and her PSR-2100 :)

Dear Toril S
Thanks for your reply.
I feel an urge to acquire this keyboard. Therefore before doing so I will look at all possible details.
Blessings!

Let me point out that ALL the voices that were on the PSR 2100 are in your current keyboard.

You have to go the the LEGACY, GM&XG and GM2 folders to use them.

I would not waste money on that very old keyboard which only uses the SFF1 format styles.
