I have a multipad  I would like to edit .  The guitar voice is too loud and other voices not enough.  Not sure how to proceed.  Regards, Bob

It helps if you state your keyboard model ???
Got to Style Creator and select Multi-pads....You can edit volumes etc from here...remember to save in user or USB.

Hi Bob,

you can edit a MIDI Multi Pad in "Multi Pad Creator > (Step) Edit".

But ... a MIDI Multi Pad in principal can contain only one voice (because it only consists of one single MIDI channel). (Theoretically, there can be used more than one voice in a MIDI Multi Pad, but these voices cannot play at the same time but only alternatively, switched by Bank Select and Program Change Messages, on the same MIDI Channel).

So I think that the Multi Pad we are talking about is an AUDIO LINK Multi Pad (i.e. a WAVE file that is linked to a Multi Pad button). And with an AUDIO file, you can unfortunately no longer edit individual instruments afterwards.

Best regards,
Chris

Thank you Graham and Chris.   I meant to refer to the Genos keyboard.  The multipad in question is part of a style not an audio pad link.  Graham's reference should solve the issue.  Regards, Bob

Hi Bob,

could you explain this in more detail please? I'm still not sure what exactly you are about.

A Style has 8 Parts (Channels), but a Style cannot contain a Multi Pad. The Style Parts (e.g. Rhythm1, Rhythm2, Bass etc.) can be edited in "Style Creator".

A "normal" Multi Pad (also called "MIDI Multi Pad") has only one Channel, so it has also only one Voice (at a time). Such a MIDI Multi Pad can be edited, as mentioned, in "Multi Pad Creator": Select the desired Pad (1, 2, 3 or 4) of the currently loaded Multi Pad Bank, go to (Step) Edit and change the value of CC #7 (= Ctrl #7) to edit the Volume.

P.S.
When you press an "OTS" button (or have activated "OTS Link"), also a Multi Pad is called up (besides the Keyboard Voices). Do you mean this (when you say the Multi Pad is "Part of a Style"?

Best regards,
Chris

Bob,

The Multi Pad is NOT part of the style.  Multi Pads are separate files and are saved in the OTS.  To edit a Multi Pad (when loaded) open Multi Pad Creator and TAB to the Step Edit screen as Chris has stated and adjust the cc7 Volume and save as a User Multi Pad.

Now you must select the User Multi Pad and resave the OTS again otherwise the original Multi Pad will be loaded next time you select the OTS or Main Section (if OTS Link is turned on)

I hope this makes sense.

My mistake Chris and Joe.  When I select a style a multipad is assigned to
it(?).  At least that is what I was trying to imply.   Thanks for your input.  Bob

When I use the Multi Pad Editor/Step edit, the first line, before the lines representing the notes, has a number which if I alter it, changes the voice. Is there a list somewhere of the voices and their associated numbers? The Data List for my s970 lists the voices, but I can't see any associated numbers.

Alan,

You can select a Voice in Multi Pad Creator just like you were selecting a Voice for R1... then delete the old Voice Bank Select and Program Change messages. (or delete the Voice mesage first before selecting a new Voice)

If you want to alternate Voices within a single Multi Pad, you can select a Voice (after you scroll to the bar you want to insert an alternate second Voice). Then the Multi Pad will alternate between 2 Voices as it plays.

Joe

Thank you so much. You have opened a whole world of possibilities to me. I feel a few hours of experiments are going to be necessary for me to begin to feel comfortable playing with them. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again.

I'd like to report that I have wrestled with the Multi Pad Editor and can now change the voice playing a pad also adjust its volume. I can then save the bank as a new file. This is really useful as well as being good fun.

The use of the standard voice selection procedure when the display consists of columns of numbers isn't intuitive though, and I doubt whether I should have thought of trying it. Thank you for your help.
