Can I Do This- edited voices in midi file

Hi everyone hope you are all well. I was wondering if I can use a voice that I have edited and saved to registration and voices folder on my usb and use that voice on a midi file- you know when you can edit and change the voice on a midi channel? I just wondered if I can do this and what the process is? Thanks in advance.
