Why are these voice files so large?

I have a package of PSR voices from CMS-SoundDesign and they are much larger filesizes than all my other voices. I have not tried them yet, because something doesn't look right with these filesizes.

The smallest voice, cms wah muha.ppf, is 712KB
All the other voices are at least 3MB, ranging up to cms wurlitzer a-200.ppf, which is 111.9 MB!

Why are they so large?

There two reasons for this I think.

1. CMS uses too large of samples for arranger purposes. (so they are a memory hog)
2. Yamaha uses a form of compression that no one else knows about to make the sample size smaller.

I suspect that the samples are larger because they are of a very high quality standard. This is not unusual. That is also the reason why some of the better sample libraries are hundreds of GB ! :-)

That's not true, it has nothing to do with quality, it is rather with using a larger size of samples.

I'm currently working on a Cinematic Hybrid Instrument Expansion Pack, and it will contain the best Epic Choirs, Strings, Brasses, Cinematic/Ambient Piano, Ambient Guitars you've ever heard on a Yamaha arranger.

None of these sounds is over 10 mb size each.
And we talk about full range voices from C5-C1, the largest voice i have is a Full Ensemble Strings with 9,75 mb size and 19 different samples.

Many other developers use for example Sample Robot to record and loop each sample automatically.
With these methods you can ending up with too big and unnecessary size of the samples on one single voice.
For example each sample could be 5-10 sec long or even more, and that's why the size increase dramatically.
In comparison to my samples for the more complex voices, they are each maximum 3-4 sec long with loop.

I'm using Edison Recorder (Native plugin in FL Studio) to record and loop each sample individually, sometimes i also use Sound Forge Pro to loop more complex voices.

::) LOL
I don't get the reason of this hilarious post...
Just tell us to laugh at us too.
No offense...

Another reason is that many independent producers of Expansion Packs they just don't care to loop the samples carefully and close to the start of the sample.
Some of them they don't even try to loop the samples (amd still call themselves... "professionals")
They just record a huuuuuuge sample of 8 or 10 seconds for every note and you get a voice with a size of 60Mb !!!! (the same size Yamaha or other serious producers offer a whole sound pack..)

If you carefully work on clever loops you can save big memory with shorter samples.

Listen this demo for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9pU12dcx5Q
The whole pack of 65+ sounds is just 18MB!!!!

I think that Yamaha start with original sounds already optimized for looping.
I mean when they record a flute for example, they try to optimize the  recording in order to get a sample easy to loop it in short time (smooth vibrato, dynamics, sound color  etc.)and don't have to create huge voices.
And then of course they use a special proprietary compression.
