Hello all

I try to build a 2 bars intro for a 4/4 style. For this, I imagined doubling the tempo.
I used the Jososoft's "Style tempo editor" (thank you !), but it doesn't work. The value indicated into the software doesn't replace the chosen initial value

I looked into the file with StyleMagic, tempo indications are there....

On the Genos's screen, near the tempo indication, there is a lock that appears .... Strange. It seems to be the same with all styles....

Regards

Hi Soundphase,

please be sure to have set the "Change Behavior" for the Tempo to "Reset" (NOT to "Lock" or "Hold") in Style Setting.

This may be the reason for the "Lock" symbol near the Style Tempo in Main display.

Best regards,
Chris

Hi soundphase,
2 bars in a 4/4 style with double tempo are equal to 1 bar of the 4/4 style with the normal tempo.
I don't know if it is wise to mess around with a double tempo in this case or there is another reason:eg you have style parts in 2 bars that you have to assembly.

Sorry my English is not good enough. I wanted to say "2 beats" and not "2 bars" (half-bar intro)

Yes, that explains why the tempo is locked. Thank you !

Thank you Wim. But it's OK by replacing "lock" by "reset" for the parameter in the "Change Behaviour" section of the Style Setting option. My intro is now at Tempo 114, although my style is at 57. So I succeeded in simulating an half-bar intro.

Hi Soundphase,

thank you for your quick feedback! I'm glad go could help you.

P.S.
The options "Lock" and "Hold" (at "Change Behavior - Tempo) are useful to quickly find a suitable style for a particular song title (at a given tempo). But for a" normal" use, this parameter should be set to "Reset", after such a "Style search process".

Best regards,
Chris

I changed to « Lock » value as I found useful to keep the same tempo when I test the different styles to find the one that best suits a particular rendition.

I use Hold, because it takes tempo of the last playing style but only if the changing of styles are made playing. If you stop the style playing and change the style, the tempo will be reset to the newly selected style default tempo.
Note: Tempo change behavior setting (Lock, Hold and Reset) does not work when you change styles using registrations and registration had "Tempo" ticked when you saved the registration ;)

You could just build an intro where the the first two bars are silent. That seems pretty easy to do.

It is an intro for a final part, and it is not played at the beginning.
As the tempo is slow, the 2 silent beats are too long to wait

Thank you Fred. I will try it. It is a good solution. It's even better if thanks to this tool, it is no longer mandatory to fix the tempo in the style as I currently does.
