Must confess I'm not enjoying using the mixer on the touchscreen to adjust part volumes and mutes. I miss the physical buttons below the screen on the previous models.

had the idea of connecting an external USB midi controller like the NANOKONTROL2 and configuring the faders and buttons to send the appropriate CCs to control the mixer parameters.

Anybody got any idea if this will work?

"...had the idea of connecting an external USB midi controller like the NANOKONTROL2 and configuring the faders and buttons ...". Will it work?

I sure hope so.  I want to do the same thing. Hopefully, someone has actually done it and can list step by step instructions, not theoretical stuff.

Hello

You're in luck. I have done exactly this on T5 and am very happy with how it works. It will work in exactly the same way on any PSR model too.

You need the NanoKontrol itself, plus a 'USB MIDI Host'. This sort of thing:

https://www.dv247.com/en_GB/GBP/Miditech-USB-MIDI-HOST/art-SYN0006178-000?campaign=PSM_UK/billiger&ProgramUUID=glvAqJar8tEAAAFoxv.P7Dz2

Program the NanoKontrol as you like. For example:

I have the first knob / slider set to MIDI Channel 1, the second to MIDI Channel 2, the third to MIDI Channel 3 and the fourth to MIDI Channel 4. I set the pot to control cutoff, and the slider to control reverb depth.

Then I have the fifth knob / slider also set to MIDI Channel 1 (etc). I set those pots to control resonance, and the sliders to control volume.

I put some red stickers on the second and sixth sliders to make it easy to see which control R1, I can find L/R2/R3 easily from there.

Connect the USB on the NanoKontrol to the USB port on the MIDI Host.

Connect MIDI OUT on the MIDI Host to MIDI IN on the keyboard.

Go to the MIDI settings and make sure that each of L, R1, R2, R3 is set to receive MIDI IN on a different channel. I've set L to Channel 1, R1 to Channel 2, R2 to Channel 3 and R3 to Channel 4. This corresponds to how I programmed the NanoKontrol.

I use a simple notebook with a sequencer with a Mixer
The adventage is that you can save the mixer settings
You also use the notebook voor midi file and midi file with lyrics display
Also for score display

That's very encouraging Derek, thank you so much for your insight.
Shame you need an "adapter" that costs the same as the controller... :/

I'm wondering if the adapter device is necessary on the SX since it has both a " [USB TO DEVICE] terminal" and a " [USB TO HOST] terminal".  I think this was probably missing on the T5, although I'm not sure what it all means.

or an optional wireless LAN adaptor, etc.
The PSR-SX900 has two terminals, and the PSR-SX700
has one terminal.

The T5 has the same ports as the SX.

Sadly you do need the MIDI host. I tried at first without it, but with no luck. Another formum member (SeaGtGruff) explained that I'd need the MIDI host, and that was correct.

USB To Device only provides power to the nanokontrol, no MIDI messages flow

USB to Host sends MIDI from the keyboard to a host (e.g. computer or the standalone one) but no power.

thank you again for the clarification, good to know, but for me anyway, that makes it too much hassle with all those components, i'll live with the touchscreen for now!
