Quick answer to the topicstarter:

I will never trade in my Tyros 5.
I spend 10 years drewling at youtubevideos and saving money to buy my Tyros and i really do not care if there is a better keyboard in store.
Still learning to controle the beast and very happy with it.

Hi Jan :

For me the Tyros5 is a real legend too.

It is absolutely my intention to keep it as long as possible.
But " NEVER " ?

It might be possible, who knows, the Genos2, Genos3 etc. are using a new OS, different styles structures, new voices and/or other software applications.

Time will tell.

My plan was to bay SX-900 as a back-up for my Genos.

Since I found out that is not possible load on SX-900 mixed external/internal custom voices/drums I will not bay unless Yamaha fix that in next OS update.

SX-900 is great keyboard but all my stuff in Genos (95 %) are created from external samples  mixed with some onboard.

So at this moment I Will wait for Genos2 and maybe look for T5 or T4.... because I need back-up keyboard.

Hi Metcam :

Very interesting information. Thank you.😁

Are you saying the SX900 cannot be called a
" Genos baby " but  a very interesting and successful S975 successor with some Genos features ?

Are you sure the Tyros4 and/or Tyros5 can do the job you are looking for ?
If not, what other alternative might be acceptable for you ?

Best wishes,
Babette

Hi Babette

For me personally ,for the way I am using Yamaha keyboards the best Back-up for my Genos at this moment

will be another Genos, or Tyros5.

SX-900 in my opinions  will be  a better than Tyros5 if is posible mixing external/onboard samples.

Yes Tyros3 , 4 and 5 can mix onboard/external samples.

Re 'Baby Genos' .... I would sum up SX900 as:

.. S970  overall set of features,
.. S970-ish keybed,
.. Tyros 5 styles and voices,
.. Genos OS, touchscreen, and overall tone.

Hi Guys :

After reading all these reactions, I believe I need to test the SX900 and SX700 myself first before I am able to give my personal opinion.

It is my intention to test both new arrangers as soon as they are available ... but ... selling my Tyros5/76 is absolutely out of the question.

If you don't use custom voices or if you dont't make your own but use Yamaha packs , Than in my opinion
SX-900 is better than Tyros5.

That is my opinion.

I was ready to bay SX-900 and the only problem with mixing External/onboard samples stopped me.

This would be a "Downgrade" from my T5.

I would miss the - tilt screen, articulation voices, 76 keys, aftertouch, direct power cord vs ac adaptor, ensamble voices, 3 foot pedals vs 2, expansion memory at 2gb.  I use all these features.  Can't live without them.

The Genos is the upgrade, not a PSR.

Concordo plenamente Onildo. Infelizmente no Brasil os preços de teclados é um absurdo. E olha que já tem loja postando o anúncio de venda no Mercado Livre do SX900, preçinho salgado de $18.000.

If I go to this site the price is R$ 10.999,-

Interesting comments from all.  I'm stuck on a PSR3000 that does more than I can.  I pine for an upgrade to the latest and best like most BUT in the finale analyse if the unit dorsn't dound $2000 better I will continue to fight the older OP.

A luxury problem is coming. ;) I have sold the S975 now, as I hardly can play the keyboard for 2 months from now. The trade-in price for the Sx900 was disappointing (€900), so I sold it privately for the same price as I boight it. Now I have my hands free to buy me another keyboard. At first I will listen and inform myself on the new Sx900, as soon as it is in the store. After that I will make a choice: a Sx900 (will cost me €900?? extra) or for less money  a used S975 (there will be a second hand pricedrop). A used Genos is no option for my needs, unless a fantastic upgrade 1.5/2.0 would come. But I don't expect that Yamaha will do that, it would harm the sale of the SX900 and Genos 2. Time will tell and I'm looklng forward to hear and feel and see the SX900 about a few weeks. ;)
My best regards,
Ton

Hi Ton :

Congratulations with the sales of your S975.
It looks to be a great deal.WOW !😉

I am looking forward to reading your comments after receipt of your new SX900.

Probably you will be one of the first SX900 owners, I guess.

Good luck, Babette

I also found a more real price on ML (R$ 10.990):

I hope the prices stay at this level.

Hello Telmo,

It seems that the "Tecla Center" removed the price of the pre-announcement and the Mercado Livre dealer raised the price from $ 10990 to $ 13990.
Joy of poor lasts a little! ;D ;D ;D

Mmm.. I don't think so, Babette, because I return from caravanning throught Europe on november 1st. Dealer-info here in Holland says that the SXx00 are on 18/19 september in the shop?? So I guess that there are (many) buyers before me  ;). But I will follow with great interest these posts  ;)
My best regards,

I hope to get one the moment it's released, it's on order so hopefully I will hear something when they set a release date.

This will be going along with my T4 & S975. I think I will keep the S975 because I think there will be enough differences to warrant keeping both.

Hi :

Ordering, buying a new arranger always gives me an emotional kick. Almost like buying a new car.  :)

It makes me dream, I feel happy and great to become a proud owner of the latest technology ... I can hardly wait.

Just after receipt I am so excited.
Many days and hours I am installing, listening to the newest sounds and testing the new gadgets.

After 3-4 weeks I am used to it and the thrill is gone ... ;)

That's how I feel, too, Babette, on a new honeymoon, for about 90 days. kkkkk

I totally get the same initial feelings as you both do when I get a new keyboard I get very excited and can't wait.

However I still love my T4 like I did the first day I took it out of the box and still feels fresh to me. I've been happy to experiment with the mid range from the S950 and then changing for each one up with the knowledge that I still have the T4 so that I wouldn't ever miss anything. The SX900 will be a very interesting addition though.

Hi Guys :

Glad and funny to hear some other members are sharing my experiences. 😸

Everybody must follow his own heart and personal wish list.
Why not ... if it brings joy and pleasure.🙈

The reason why I have decided not to follow the latest trends is rather simple. It is not a financial issue.

I found out there are so many secrets hidden in my present arranger I do not know yet and never knew they existed or even were possible.

I am learning every day new challenges and new tricks thanks to other members of this forum and my own curiosity.

This learning process made me " love " my arranger and I am not ashamed to say it would hurt to leave it behind.

It might sound silly but :
it feels like my arranger is a real music instrument to me.

Best wishes, Babette

I partially agree with what @Babette writes. The 'thrill' stays when I play the keyboard and hear how great styles and voices sounds. Each time again when I study a new song. It is not about me because it is new or has the latest technology, but mainly I expect that it has a somewhat qualitatively better sound from the styles and voices. If there are also some new features that appeal to me, I am very satisfied (to name a few important features for me: Touchscreen, Chord-looper and Style-Reset, subwoofer and especially more RAM). I expect to hear that sound quality when I try out the SX900 and that will further increase my pleasure in playing the keyboard. Please note: all my former keyboards offered a lot of quality and diversity !! But because the Yamaha line was unknown to me, it was a journey of discovery to experience the ins and outs. That's why I kept changing keyboard.  Only for personal reasons do I choose the keyboard that suits me ... ;) ;)
My best regards,
Ton

beykock

Hi Ton :

As I said before ( see my previous message ): one has to go for the arranger keyboard he/she really likes as long as this choice will bring the player fun, pleasure, satisfaction and joy.

It might be the newest, the most expensive, the lowest in price or a second hand keyboard.
The personal choice is important and needs to be respected, IMHO.
Some players are producing great music quality with low priced arrangers.
