I downloaded the files and they are huge (80MB to 90MB each) and they have a .ppf file extension, which my computer does not have a program that will open.

What program will open a .ppf file?

Thanks.

You need to export it to .Ppi file with Yamaha Expansion Manager (YEM), the program is free and you can find it on Yamaha's official web site

What are .ppi files? I thought the .ppi extension was for graphic files.
Will this work on a Mac?
Thanks.

Vileguy,

check out this you tube demo for your S-975 (or any other keyboard that uses YEM for that matter):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOOdJSSActg

It will answer your questions I think :) When the guy is talking about IMPORT it is the PPF file or files that are chosen so in this case the audio styles offered by the op. When they are talking about pressing the save to install pack button the PPI file is created. And yes this can be done on both PC and MAC.

hope it helps,
Peter

Yes if you have the Yamaha Expansion Manager installed on it.
All these packs are available from the Yamaha Genos download site

Q: Can I use Expansion Manager to save these styles to my Mac desktop for review, before I decide if I want to load them into my S975?

If I remember well, that is not possible. But these styles are from the Tyros 5, maybe you can search on YouTube for a demo, I remember that there was a video of all the Tyros 5 audio styles

XeeniX

The link below has recordings of all 40 Tyros 5 Audio Styles for those interested. I recorded them some time ago :) You hear all intro's and endings and 1 or 2 measures of each variation.

The link will be active for two weeks after which it will be deleted. You can either audition them there or download them for later use

hope that helps,
Peter

Hi VilleGuy,

you do NOT necessarily have to import these .ppf files containing Audio styles to YEM, first.

You can use the PC program "StyleExtractor V1.0.0.5" to extract the Audio styles directly from the .ppf files. The download link is in Reply #20 in the following thread:

https://www.psrtutorial.com/forum/index.php/topic,44290.msg369236.html#msg369236

The extracted Audio styles (.aus) should can be loaded directly from the USB stick. If this is not working with your S975, try to change the file extension .aus to .sty (on PC). Then it should work. :)

(Note: An Audio style takes a little more time to load than a normal MIDI style.)

Another method is to import these .ppf files to YEM first (by "Import Pack"), but then use "YEM Content Explorer V1.0.3" program to extract the Audio styles. Then you do NOT need to install this pack with the audio styles on the S975, but as described above, you can also use the audio styles directly from the USB stick. (Finally, the pack with the Audio styles can be deleted in YEM.)

Hope this helps!

Thanks Chris, but as I have a Mac, would I need different software to do this?

You can use Windows programs on a Mac by using "Parallels" app or "VirtualBox" with a virtual Windows system, or you can install a native Windows system and use "Bootcamp" to boot either to macOs or to Windows, then.

In my knowledge there are NO programs like "StyleExtractor" and "YEM Content Explorer" for macOS.

Best regards,
Chris
