Hi over the next 3 weeks, I'm going to be purchasing a new keyboard as I've outgrown my PSR S710. Is there much difference between the 970 and 975 models? I'm drawn towards the 975. Is this the best mid range Yamaha available at the moment? Thanks.

Hi mark!

Watch this video in Portuguese, but you will understand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RcbiAEnoMc&t=601s

The 975 has a bigger expansion memory and has a plus button with additional styles. Otherwise not much difference.

If you are interested in the Live Control... the S975 has the ability to save the Live Control settings in registrations.  The S975 also has more Voices.

And it has the mono legato function. To my ears, the 975 sounded more balanced right out of the box than the 970. Thanks for the info about the live knob Joe H. Bottom line, they look almost the same, but the 975 is newer, with some more functions. And the 970 is now discontinued. So if the budget allows it, go for the 975!

Bear in mind there will be a successor to 975 coming along probably some time this year.

Maybe Eileen has some information that could minimize everyone's curiosity about the new PSRs! ;D ;D ;D

No but going on past history it will based more on Genos. Time will tell.
