Hello,

I have recently installed an update to my forScore app on my iPad Pro.

All my sheet music and music books are in PDF format and stored on a cloud (Google Drive) and then I've downloaded the PDF's to folders in forScore on my iPad Pro.

I've just added three sheets to the Google Drive cloud but when I touch the cloud symbol (top left of screen) in forScore the Google Drive is not showing hence I'm not able to view the music files in the cloud from my iPad or download new entries to my device.

The program worked perfectly before the update, so can anyone help me solve this issue or if you live in the Birmingham area perhaps meet up local to where you live.

I hope you can solve this problem for me please.

My regards,

Mike

Hi Mike

It's not the ForScore update that's caused the problem, it's the fact that ForScore have now stopped offering Google Drive (and Microsoft's OneDrive) as a storage option through their Services panel. The reasons for this are set out here:

https://forscore.co/google-drive/

The good news is that you will still be able to use Google Drive to store and transfer your PDFs to your iPad but you'll need to use a third party app on your iPad to do that. Have a look here:

https://forscore.co/category/news/

ForScore have set out a set of instructions on how to use the relevant app here:

https://forscore.co/files/

I know there's a lot of information to take in but it'll be worth spending some time reading the various pages.

Let me know how you get on. I'm in Sheffield so not really 'round the corner' but if you want to FaceTime we could try that if you get stuck.

Cheers

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your reply to my problem but I'm still have no luck downloading a PDF from Google Drive into forScore,

I can see the file in the Google cloud, I've managed to download that file to the iPad (God knows how I did that?) but I can't move or copy it into forScore.

Any more suggestions please or is there another app like forScore I can install on my iPad Pro?

Cheers,

Mike

I use the app SongBook+ loaded on my iPad Pro to download PDF's stored in MS OneDrive.

The iPad is connected to Genos. It works great for my purposes.

Hi Al,

Thanks for your reply and can I use an Air Turn BT-106 pedal linked to the program to turn the pages?

Regards,

Mike

I believe you can.  However, cannot confirm because i do not use pedals.

Perhaps someone using SongBook+ and pedals can provide some light . . .

Hi Mike

I also have iPad Pro and use forScore and back up my files to the cloud.
I also use Sheet Music Scanner which is an app that might be able to help with your problem.

If you are able to 'see' your music scores on iPad and had the  Sheet Music Scanner app you could take a screen shot of each piece of music and then import it into this app.

Then the score can be exported from Sheet Music Scanner app into the forScore app.

This is how I am able to have all my scores in forScore.

Good luck

Linda

Hello Linda,

Thank you for your helpful reply and I've downloaded the app Sheet Music Scanner.

When I import the sheet from the cloud in to the Scanner and export it in to forScore I then can't locate the sheet?

Suggestions please.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike

Using the Music Scanner in the way you are trying is rather convoluted.  Music Scanner is great for what it is meant for, but file transfer is not one of them.

However when exporting the file from the scanner to fourscore make sure you select PDF.
When you go to Fourscore you will find the file in the ACTIVE Folder that you were using the last time you used the APP.

You will be far easier / better to use - BOX or DROPBOX for your transfer because the GOOGLE drive is no longer supported in fourscore.

Hi Mike

1. In Sheet Music Scanner app you have a piece of sheet music that you have downloaded from the cloud and you want to now export it into forScore app
2. Press send button (little arrow pointing up)
3 Press PDF
4. Enter name of the song you now want to export to forScore
5.  Press OK
6. Press 'Export to other app'.
7. Tap 'Copy to forScore' icon
8. Your song will automatically open in forScore.

Later when you reopen forScore app you should be able to find your song listed under the name you originally gave it in Sheet Music Scanner.

I've just checked twice that the above process would work. It did for the 2 songs I've got in Sheet Music Scanner.

Please let me know how you get on Mike.

Kind Regards

Linda

Hi Linda,

Yes thank you that works for me when I re-opened forScore, now how do I SAVE that sheet to a folder of my choice please....

Mike

If you want a separate copy of the file ie outside of the one you imported into ForScore, just export it again from Music Scanner but this time export it to your preferred storage option which, in your case, I know is Google Drive.

Hi Mike

It looks as though Chris might be able to help you save scores to the folder of your choice ;D

Hello All,

Came across this app for iPad by the name of "Onsong" (http://onsongapp.com/)

Has anyone any experience of this program?

Your thoughts please.

Mike

Like Eileen I also use Dropbox when I have exported PDF files from my PC to iPad

Do you keep all of your PDF's on Dropbox? Do you pay for a premium service?

Alan

EileenL

Hi Alan I keep all my PDF files on my computer and transfer to drop box when making a new gig set on my ipad. I don't clutter it up with songs I am  not going to play and once loaded in from drop box I delete them from there.

Thank you for that. I have a similar arrangement. My pdfs are on my computer's hard disk backing store (which is itself periodically backed up). There is an identical set of pdfs on my Google Drive cloud. This is the source of the working copies which are transferred to my "big" iPad/ForScore which lives on the music rest of my Arranger. The iPad, like yours, only has music that meets my current needs. That is it's sole purpose.
