Genos VH2 is better than the one in Tyros5?

Seagull29

Hi,
Genos and Tyros 5 have the same VH2. Only the sound processor is different between them. But TC Helicon VH beats very strongly the Yamaha VH2.

IMHO not all TC Helicon VH models meet the quality of our VH2.

VH of Genos and T5 are pretty much the same.

I had a TC Helicon VH device once but returned it because it is one more piece to carry/control.

thanks

Thanks to all for your answers, but I like to ask to Seagull29 why he thinks TC Helicon VH is better than the VH2.

Hi,
I have heard the two devices, TC Helicon and VH2, and I think that TC Helicon sound less synthetic as VH2. I find it more precise in definition of different voices, but it's just my hears and my opinion.
Best Wishes for 2019 for all

Thanks for your reply, seagull, which  TC Helicon are you using - there are a few :

TC Helicon V
TC Helicon VG
TC Helicon VK,
and I think some others that look alike, don't know about the difference between them.
Cut you explain?

Hi,
it was the TC Helicon device on a Pa4X Korg but I don't know exactly what is the model.

I use a very old Korg ih vocal harmonizer as it is very easy to use and sounds natural but they don't make them anymore.
I had a TC helicon but found it sounded a bit synthetic and robotic and sent it back. I think the vocal harmony on my Tyros 4 is very good if set up properly. Firstly I reduced the style and voice volumes down to the 70's so I didn't have to have the mic level too high. This seemed to stop it distorting. Then I turned off the pitch correction. I think it is the pitch correction that makes the vocals sound false and robotic. I found in my case (I have a deep voice) that a harmony a third and fifth above my voice worked well.
I use my Korg harmonizer because I'm so used to it but if it ever lets me down I will have no hesitation using the Tyros vocal harmony.
Hope this helps
Rob

Hi there new here and also new to using the VH2. Purchased a Genos last year after trading in my Tyros 5 and have not really used the VH2 other than just running the mic into the Genos for effects when I am playing with my band. Here is my question, when playing with the band there is no need for using the auto               ac compliment for obvious reason. Is it still possible to get harmony's when playing chords or melodies with the right hand or upper portion of the board?

Yes, it's called Harmony (not vocal harmony, just harmony). The button is on the upper right of your keyboard.

And more advice: don't hijack threads. If you have a new topic, create a new post, with the appropriate subject.

Cheers,

Fred, I think you have misread the question and been a bit harsh.

I belive 'Daddy Cool' is asking if it possible to control vocal harmony without having the style accompaniment running.

( I don't know)

You could be right. In which case, the answer is use a Full Keyboard fingering.

Having used several vocal harmonizers over the years, I can assure they all sound a bit robotic and require extensive tuning in order to provide somewhat realistic vocal harmony. The VH2 can be tuned to sound very, very good, but achieving realistic vocal harmony requires more than tuning the vocal processor. It also requires a great deal of vocal control on the part of the singer. This is the critical element.

Hope this helps,
