I wonder when Yamaha will launch their Genos2 ?

For my personaI use I would love to see a Genos2 in two versions :  61 and 76 keys.

A tiltable " button " screen and a bigger SSD Harddisk
( as of 256 GB e.g. ? ).

The 61 key version with built in speakers and the 76 key version without speakers.

Both models available in 2 colours : black/grey and silver.

Wishful thinking or a bridge too far ? 😏

Well the next release will be the PSR replacement... which could be some variation of what you describe.  I would like to see a 61 key board without speakers. Personally I don't use the on-board speakers and they take up a lot of the real estate on the Panel leaving no room for faders or knobs.

I think Yamaha have settled on a specific number of keys for each line they have.

Clavinova is 88 keys, Genos is 76 keys and PSR is 61 keys.

It makes a lot of marketing and manufacturing sense, so I don't see this position changing.

Yes, but there are some exceptions.  The newer PSR-EW line has keyboards with 76 keys.

I should have thought that any future instrument would have eliminated hard disks in favour of solid state backing store, as my laptop does now.

Hi Joe H,

IMHO most PSR-S owners like the built in speakers and probably expect Yamaha will continue that tradition or am I wrong ?

Most people are hoping the new S-serie will be " a Genos Baby ", I guess.
61 keys, no SSD, no HD and no touch screen and present S975/775 keybed ... who knows.

Will the Genos Baby come first or the Genos2 ?
Time will tell. 😏

In a couple of years ( or maybe sooner ) we will know the outcome.

Maybe all depends on the commercial success of the S775 and S975.
It looks like most S770 and S970 players prefer to wait for the Genos Baby though.

Only a very few S770/S970 owners upgraded in 2018, I heard.
Apparently the present S-serie seems to be an update and no real upgrade for most S770 and S970 owners, am I right ?

I am very happy with my T5/76.
For the time being no reason to upgrade.
I prefer to wait for the Genos2.

I think we shall see the next (Baby Genos) as you put it long before Genos 2.

Well as I pointed out, there is no room on the current PSR S series arrangers Panel for more knobs or faders... something has to give. So maybe there will be a 61 key Genos in spite of the opinions of some.  If Yamaha want to sell arrangers they will have to bend to the will of the market place.

As I always say, We must wait and see. All will be revealed in time.

I agree we have to wait. Speculation is useless. 😫
Time will tell.

Yes true but to much speculation always leads to posts that we had when Genos was released. It was slated and Yamaha were blamed for all sorts of negative things. I had never seen anything like it before.

A Genos2 and a Genos Baby Wish List might be useful though, I guess ? 😉

My personal Genos2 basic Wish List would be :

01. A bigger tiltable " button " screen - no touch screen.

02. 2 models :
A. 61 keys in silver ( colour ) - built in speakers.
This model could also be called
" New Tyros ".😀

B. 76 keys in black/grey colour - no speakers.

03. VH3 for both models.

04. 256 GB SSD.

05. Additional new midi styles and multipads.

Kind regards, Babette

Genos just came out?

I'm just starting to scratch the surface on what mine can do.

I might be interested in a Genos 2 in about 5 years.  So far Genosis more capable than I'll figure out for a long time.

For me, the goal is to keep growing/learning.

Amen! And now MODX has taken away the rest of my waking hours, too.  ;D

The Genos, is definitely the flagship, of the series of keyboards of arrangements. but it is a very expensive gift that I can not afford at this time. :'(  meanwhile I enjoy to the maximum of my S770.  :)  Greetings.    Hans

I have written before; there is nothing at all that I like about the Genos. If it came on the market for $50 I would still stay with my Tyros 4.
I have a PSR S770 and the YEM is a pain. Live knobs?? totally useless, I only have 2 hands. I could go on for ever but I would upset those who have bought a Genos.  :'( :'(
Regards, Denn.

It appears that you are mostly the one who is upset! I think most Genos owners love their Genos.
