The latest version (2.5.2) requires a minimum of Windows 7. I'm looking to see if I can find out the last version that worked with Windows XP.

Henni

Thank you so much! I really have an urgent need to install that version on my aged laptop.

I couldn't find anything on Yamaha's web site. Note that Yamaha may have "cleaned up" or at least reorganized their site-- something they do every so often to move or remove pages for older models and replace them with pages for the newest models. So it's possible than any older version of YEM which worked on XP has been taken off of the site. I do know that a few months ago someone at a different forum was trying to find a version of the USB-MIDI driver that worked with XP, but it was no longer available at Yamaha's site. I was able to help him because I just happened to have a copy of that version of the driver from back when I'd bought a used YPT-400 and was trying to get it working with my Windows 10 computer. But I don't know if I have any old versions of YEM, because I don't have any keyboards that can use YEM packs and wouldn't have had any reason to download and archive the various versions of YEM over the years. I'll look on my USB flash drive, but I'm doubtful. :(

Hi

I have uploaded YEM version 2.3.2 to

Only ways are to install Win7 in a virtual PC environment, or upgrade to Win7
Maybe there is a version working on XP somewhere. 'Trial and error'

Hi Jørgen,

I've just downloaded and installed - it does not run on a Win 32 platform. Before loosing my employment, I always had the latest and greates and most expensive company laptop with all the latest/current software. Now that I am pressed for finances, I have to rely on my 15 year old laptop and software. I will gladly upgrade to Win 7 if I do not loose anything allready installed.

Thus far the only required software that does not work for me are:

1. YEM.
2. Only the very latest version of Mixmaster.
3. Your Revo drum cleaner program.

I was really hoping to find a way to make these work for me as I spend a lot of time on styles and sounds.

If the laptop installed version of Windows XP had NOT been reloaded in 15 years, it will most likely NOT upgrade to Win7 very well, and will be very slow in use. If it had a FRESH install of XP in last .. say 2 years, will probably upgrade ok.
Failing this, I would suggest you back up all your docs, etc,and do a fresh new install of Win 7.
Probably best to do a compatibility check first here ... some XP build laptops and PC's are not suitable for upgrade.

Tx Al,

I installed the software and ran a test. Seems it can be done. I am a little short on RAM though.

Tommorrow I'll go price a Win7 upgrade and weigh all my options.

Hiya ..

Dont worry about the RAM too much .. depending on what is fitted, and what your laptop motherboard can take (and actually be compatible with) there is a way of diabling many of the useless background services in Windows that permanently use up precious RAM.
I dont know what version of XP you are using, and if you are running 32bit or 64 bit version.
An upgrade may be better using 32bit version .. In any case, all software will run 32bit easier.
For info ..

You can find lots on eBay .. ! You need original retail discs and the license key.

I was hoping that someone here might have an archived copy. Leave it to Jørgen to save the day! We're very fortunate to have him. :)

Henni,

Check out eBay for used computers.  I bought a really fast Win7 machine for cheap from a company that recycles computers with Microsoft certification.  There are some great deals to be had.  I have left XP behind and glad I did.

My favourite sequencer only works on XP
I have one computer setup just for that purpose.

I have all the latest Cubase, Sonar, Reaper on Win 10
But for MIDI, I'm back to a basic sequencer.

I run XP x32 on my Win7 x64 machine with Virtual PC. I have an editor for my Korg sound module that is old and only will run on Win98 and XP. It's a free download from the MS website, but your PC BIOS must support Virtual PC in order to run it.

I actually have a software emulator for Atari STe call STEEM.  There are some unique Atari MIDI programs I run once in awhile that never got ported over to the PC.

I have the best of all worlds.

Enjoy...

I have used backup to dvd for ages... the hardest task is to locate the old files...
I am aware that ver 1.00 most probably misses some features present in the current version, but I hope this version suits your needs.

I don't plan on upgrading to Windows 10 ever... I have cloned my machine so I can keep going if the current machine dies.

FYI... I use Windows 7 as my MIDI machine and it's not necessary to go on line with it.  So when the updates stop... it won't matter to me. Win7 is my permanent MIDI machine.

Fraid to say YEM for XP does not work. When I create a PPI file, it only takes the styles. Whatever I do, it will not inlude the voice samples. Pity!
