Hi all,
I have a s970 and my friend has a s770. I'm wondering if we can share our ppi files to both keyboards.
Thanks in advance.

PPI file from S770 will not play on S970. You must pass the PPF file through YEM, then play.

They should work. The best way is to try it. If you want to load more than one pack at a time you will need to load the ppf files into the YEM to do this. Remember that the 770 has a much smaller memory though.

Thanks Eileen and ikmusic. I will ask my friend to try a small pack and see what happen.

The .ppi is not copy protected.  If you load a single S970 .ppi into a S770 it should work no problem.  But as has been note above if you wish to load the .ppf into YEM and try to create a multiple pack file it will probably be too large for the S770.

Hi Joe,
I thought the same. Because ppi file is not a protected one, it could be used in both s970 and s770 as long as it's small, say 150 mb.
Thanks,
Ted

ppi are not all the same ... for example a ppi created to target S770 does not work on Tyros.

But I agree that a ppi for S770 should work on S970 and vice versa.

Easy Sounds sells custom packs for the S970 and indicates the files for S970 and S770 are the same.

Gentlemen, I speak for the third time. The ppi file from S770 will not go to S970!

Yes !, ikmusic is correct. ppi for S770 used S770 InstrumentInfo to create it. So it won't load into S970.

In fact if a .ppi for the S770 is not copy protected it will work on the S770, S970 and Tyros 5. So... there is something wrong with your .ppi file or it was created specifically for an individual S770 and will not work on any other keyboard.  I say this because I created a .ppi file for another S970 using the .n27 file provided by the owner of the other S970.  It would not load into my S970.   I think a copy protected Installation file for the PSR keyboards is NOT a .cpi file like for the Tyros, it is a .ppi file... but will only work on the one keyboard that is was created for.

Hope that clears things up.

Easy Sound packs will contain a PPF file as well as a PPI so you have two choices.
