Joost, I was looking for a new, good, demo of the Genos when I stumbled on your posting.  I've been listening for the past 50 minutes and been blown away.  It is a great demo of the Genos, not only of the sounds that can be produced, but how you have used all those buttons on the keyboard to craft your arrangements.  I have learned a lot just watching your hands fly during the performance.  Thanks for such a great presentation!

For me, the goal is to keep growing/learning.

panos

It is the only demonstration video of this kind for Genos on Youtube.

I wonder how much better the keyboard it will sound if the voices/style parts etc
will be edited according to each song and the way Joost is playing and his improvisations.

Arnie

Thanks Joost.  That was fantastic.  That's the best Genos demo to date by far.

Regards  Arnie

Thank you all for the kind comments  :) Just keep in mind that it was the second day that I had the Genos, so I hope you will all see some progress in the next months during the Sunday live sessions  ;)

I guess that's the pay-off for 12 years of classical training.

Joost,

You are one amazing keyboardist. Keep up the great work, I enjoy your live playing.

May I ask what formal training you've had if any?

Thanks for the entertainment!

Rick D.

Joost is an incredible player! Seriously put him behind a piano or something that isn't an arranger and he's better than Kris Nicholson!

But what i find strange about arranger keyboardists (Like myself for example) is, no matter how good your playing skills are without the accompaniment.. as soon as the accompaniment is turned on the improvisations turn south and go all pentatonicy and pitchbendy :D

And no this is NOT a slack on Joost his playing, he's a fantastic musician but it's just an observation from another arranger player point of view! A guy can be a virtuoso the minute he turns it on and starts playing piano, and the next minute when playing with drums he can be "Just your average keyboard player" you know what i mean?

Joost,

... May I ask what formal training you've had if any?...

It's my understanding that Joost has had 12 years of classical training. And it really shows doesn't it?

Joost is extraordinary arranger player... there is nothing average about his playing.

He isn't! But i meant that, as soon as he starts playing with the accompaniment on he starts to behave like the average player, pentatonic scales, pitchbend stuff, and that's something that EVERY arranger player does, no matter how good they are without the accompaniment on.

Just is extraordinary, no doubt about it, like i said, better than Kris Nicholson (Who is a monster player) but he gets in to some sorta habit when he turns on the accompaniment which EVERY keyboardplayer gets in to lol

Second, as your videos, you are too sarcastic, so I think you have to shut up!

Vali Maties - Genos

KeyboardMaestroYT

How exactly do you mean this? Like my video's i am being sarcastic?
Isn't one entitled to his/her opinion? I just said that Joost is incredible, but he falls into a habit once he turns on the accompaniment, and that is something that ALL keyboard player, no matter how good they are do..

terryB

If he falls into habits that's fine by me. I thought this was a great demonstration of the Genos, and I would like to see more such inspiring performances. Accompaniment is what arranger keyboards are about, if not might as well buy a piano.

I'm glad this post has reemerged, I saw it when it first appeared but didn't get to the end of the demo, meant to finish it later, but did not at the time, then forgot about it. I hope we see more like this. I like the way the playing of the Genos is clearly visible with the pressing of the various panel buttons etc.

Cheers
Terry
