I should like to have a bigger choice of drum kits than just those that are built into my s-970. Is there an expansion pack that members of this forum have found to be particularly useful when choosing a kit for a style?

Probably I Will do an expansion pack with new drum kits soon.

Hi Alan, you've some nice drums kits in the free Yamaha expansion packs (Salsa, Brazil, cumbia, Eurodance, ....); you can also imprt in YEM some nice soundfonts SF2 drums kits; also you can just use some nice pads and just switch off the rythme of the style; have a nice weekend Patrick

You sound like someone who's been there - done that. An ideal job for a rainy day. Thank you for a very practical and feasible suggestion.

Start by open this link to the appropriate Tutorial page, and then the appropriate link (iOS or Windows) to the download site of the Yamaha Expansion Manager. Install and see how you get on.

I can only see one free expansion pack on the Yamaha site, Indian Taal Pack, whatever that is.

thanks Alan, I have the Software YEM working now. The next thing is experimenting with it and my T5, but before buying commercial pack(s) I want to know if there are any free packs for learning by 'error and doing' ;)

If you're asking me, then I'm sorry but I can't help you. I'm very inexperienced in this area.

No problem Alan, I am too. But I have just found some interesting stuff for free to experiment with. Have a nice day, Ton

At first a great video explanation of YEM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdMMqEcKwz4
(From an other post, thanks to DC) and ofcoure the lessons in PSRTutorial from repected Joe H.

Furtheron a free expansion from Jan (be it EDM, what i Like) on styles2psr (see the Styles section in PSRTutorial home).
And from CMS-sounddesign from DE, which offers a nice bunch of soundfonts. (http://www.cms-sounddesign.de/)
For you there are some drumkit-expansions you could possible use?

This give me the possibility to experiment with the T5 and YEM, without doing harm (to my wallet at this stage)  ;)
