Is any one using MIDI Bass pedals with the Genos, such as the Hammond XPK-100?

strandkam

I have Roland PK-5A bass pedals connected to my Genos.
Working just fine.

MIKEP

Hi Strandkam
As a matter of interest what do you use your pedals for. Is it to add bass to say a classical organ, or to add your own bass notes to a style, or something else?

Hi,
Using the pedals for adding bass when playing Free Play styles,

Hi,
I use roland pk9 pedals as well as a 13 note pedalboard made by korg occasionly.

Hello,

I use a Studiologic MP-117 pedalboard.  One purpose is to control organ bass (see my thread on the free theatre organ expansion packs that I offer).

Bass oedals can be mapped to control various functions like the MFC10.  My favorite use is to play bass lines along with piano for jazz improv.

I am considering buying a pedal board and have noticed in the postings a reference to R3. Does this mean that you can only layer two voices instead of three when pedals are attached?

EileenL

No,
Pedals still allow use of all three voices.

Thank you Eileen for that reassurance

Just curious, does anybody know why midi bass pedals are so expensive?  I'm an old organ player, and I'd love to get my pedals back ;) but the prices are crazy.  I could easily spend more on a set of pedals than what I paid for my new s970!  It's just a controller.

A small market I guess ... Not that many people use them anymore...

Where I live (Belgium(Europe)) used Roland PK5's are regularly offered second hand for around € 250-300

I was lucky, I was able to get my hands on a second hand Roland pk6 in new condition

Maybe there is a second hand market for them where you live as well ...

Hi Eileen

I allways use R3 right now for bass pedal playing .... loosing the third voice for layering when I do.
I did some experimenting at the time with the style bass, but that is not easy seeing that a lot of the voices used there by Yamaha are Megavoices which cannot be played - as you yourself kindly pointed out to me at the time.

Are you now saying that there is another way to voice the pedal, so that R3 remains available for layering ???

Thanks

Rudy

I used to set my bass pedals either to channel 2 or3 in midi section according to if I was using midi A or B in.
I also used the template that was on registick 5 to set up.

Hey!
Has a friend who made this Tyros 5 construction and now he wonders how to connect this so Tyros controls everything.
Tyros on R1, midipiano on R2 and base pedal on R3.
Anyone who knows?

It is normal to have R1, R2, R3 on top keyboard; Style and Left on lower keyboard

Hey!
But the question is, how do you connect everything so it works as a unit?
Anyone who knows?

Google Leigh Wilbraham and search for his Yamaha-Club article on how to create a midi template to link everything together to form an organ set-up.

Thank you Mike.
I have found a PDF.

Chandeneze

I am going to add a set of bass pedals to my genos. Any comments and assistance will be highly appreciated. I have a Tyros 4 and a Genos as a upper and lower manual and want to add a full set of midi pedals as I use pedals a lot and do a lot of pipe organ music.

work with the Genos

I use the Studiologic MP-117 pedals with my Tyros 3. I've had them for over a decade and they have held up well. They may not be what Chandeneze is looking for since they are spinet-length pedals instead of console pedals. I learned on spinet organ, so they work for me.

Genoschap

Hi Can any body provide me with information on connecting midi pedals to the Genos. I only require how to set up the MIDI settings to get the pedals to work. Does anyone have a midi template?
Many thanks

For any of these solutions..

V-console is a perfect program... it adds 8 console voices.. that you can assign to bass... or a lower keybed.
