what is the best program to edit midi files in sty format? (style works xt universal ...) thanks to friends

Hi, this one is really good but a little bit expensive. You have another soft, free, and very easy to use: Midi2Style from Josoft.

Edit: the other way is to use a DAW to build a style with a midi file. But, if you want to use it on your T5, or Genos, you must transpose all chords in C major, and it's very tedious to make it, and very long in time !

Good luck and have a nice WE !  ;)

Hello ! First, excuse for late answer. I have tested a free trial of this program to make sty-files from midis for use on a Tyros 5 and my results is not impressing. I had higher thoughts of this rather expensive program. Maybe I had miss something in the process but the midis I used was of very good quality and would have been resulting in better sty-files. I have tested a number of midis and my result is the same = not good. If you want some more information you are welcome to contact me. I am also looking for a good program for this purpose. I own a huge number of midis and many of them would be great to make sty-files from. If I find a good program I am ready to pay for it. Best Regards from LarsMoss

Hi,

For me the best way is to use several programs - start with:
- Prepair the midi I want to use to the channels 9-16 or one or two more te get the best result stylemaking.

- For the basic stylemaking I use OMB 10.3 (One Man Band) by Jos Maas.
- Proces the midi into a decent style is not easy job to do, a lot of practice is needed.
- When done I proces the new born style with SMY (Style Magic Yahama) by Midisoft - also to convert the SFF1 style to SFF2 format.

- Import of OTS with Jorgen Sorensen's program.

Of course the style needs a little tweaking on the keyboard. I realise me that there are several way to Rome but this is the way I do it and I'm satisfied with it.

Thank you pieterpan for your answer. I will try as you suggest and see what it could get me. It seems to be a complex process to make styles from midi-files and very much to study and learn. But some day maybe I solve this. Have a nice weekend. /Best Regards LarsMoss
