Typical blues songs from Mali [Africa] are in 12/8 time.
Can anyone offer styles in that timing please, or point me to a really simple tutorial to make my own.
Advice / offers are much appreciated,
thanks.

How do I attach an mp3 of drum backing track to this post please?

Hi Mike

I am attaching a style I made to do "Blue Ain't Your Color" which is 12/8 beat. I think you might be able use it to do Mali Music - I Believe.

Here is a link to what the style sounds like using it for "Blue Ain't Your Color."

https://app.box.com/file/170396885830

There are only two 12/8 beat style that I know about and this one I made.

You really need to add to your personal file what keyboard you have, it helps us better help you finding styles you can use.

Hi Drake,
thank you for responding & sharing - will give the style a try out.
I couldn't get a file from box - said that it didn't exist.

Update - just tried it, on my S970 it states 4 / 4 time, maybe this is a limitation of the S970? It sound  4 / 4 time to me.

I use an S970.

Thanks again,
Best wishes,
Mike

Beginning with the PSR 3000 there has always been at least one 12/8th style in the Ballad section of the styles. This is the one I used for the song Memories from Cats.

Good luck,

Gary,
that 12:8 Ballad works well at 118 bpm with some voices on Left Hold for a drone sound eg in G, I tried some Multipad Percussion Loops eg Ethnic 5 to make it sound more Sub-Saharan.

This experimentation is fun.

Best wishes,

Mike
