A Yamaha rep who had been to Namm  relayed this message to me.  Apparently the previous date re the update has been changed.  This all I know.

Maybe the Eng team have been looking at all the confirmed bugs and omissions, and quoted one month to prepare. Yamaha Servers will be busy on the 23rd! 😊
I cant see they can fix/include everything, but it will be a start.
😊  I started out with nothing .. and I've got most of it left!  😊

I sure wish we had better (read: ANY) Yamaha participation in this forum. What little we get now is second hand at best.

I know it depends the way one uses the arranger, but I am far less annoyed with Genos bugs than I was with Tyros 5 bugs at its launch.

So, I prefer less firmware patches and big ones (perhaps with new features 🤩) .

Genos couldn't be launched with less OS features than T5. Now, it is quite ok, Yamaha can take time to add them calmly.

Good point. I wasn't using arranger keyboards when the Tyros series came out so I missed that comparison. I didn't even know such technology existed. Boy am I glad I literally stumbled and fell backwards into Yamaha arrangers. Changed my playing life forever! I've since tried (and sold) seven keyboards and replaced them all with Genos.

That is welcome news I have had my Genos for 3 days and already I feel like taking it back and that's not good to feel that way I don't think I have ever been as let down by a new keyboard in my life to date so much hype talk and demos and yet my seven year old ketron is streets ahead of it as far as editing is concerned

Yamaha seriously need to sort this

Could you share exactly what editing issues you are seeing?

Hello,
Now and then I do read the posts, and if I am able to share information, I will.

Much appreciated. Can you confirm the date of the next Genos firmware update? First we heard January 25; didn't happen; now we hear February 22. Do you have any details to share?

Thank you for your participation on this forum!

Heratch Touresian is a very knowledgeable Yamaha product specialist and an invaluable resource for all things Genos. We can all breathe a little easier knowing Yamaha employees follow this and other keyboard forums dedicated to Yamaha products.

February 22nd is not too far off and hopefully it will be a comprehensive update with perhaps some added functionality and other enhancements. It doesn't hurt to dream big, right?  8)

أتمنى لك يوماً عظيماً!

Mazeka would have said I think, if he knew anything.
FW probably in Beta already, but it has to be tested too! Mind you, we seem to be Beta testers 😐
I'm sure Yamaha have a presence on these forums, and pick up main gripes, tho.

You know, collectively, over the years, folks on this forum have probably spent 10s of millions of dollars on Yamaha arrangers. I don't think it's too much to ask that they give something back and openly participate here or even on one of their own. Just reading the posts silently and taking (or not, who really knows) details back to their product team isn't very much IMHO.

JohnS (Ugawoga)

Would be nice if when changing a registration it could knock off the arpeggio rythm from the multipad section if it is on repeat.
It stays on when changing to next registration
Got to be quick with the hands coming down to a quieter registration

Genos, I7 computer 32 gig ram, Focusrite 6i6, Cubase controller, Focal Alpha Monitors, Yamaha DXR8 Speakers
Cubase 10, Sonarworks, Izotope.  Sampletank, Arturia and Korg software.  Now IK Mixbox

I agree .. but I'm sure that's what many manufacturers/marketers do.
Be nice if they had a visible REP to openly correlate and report back findings and studies.
It helps EVERYBODY! 😉👌

You can, I do it all the time, just turn multipads to zero volume on your next reg.

Hi Graham

I did not think of that
I am nearing getting reistration s done now,but all the sound levels have to be adjusted.
It takes a good time to get everything right and I am trying to keep all  registrations of every song on the same level.
I have used a couple of demos as markers and get on that level.
Hopefully not too much fiddling when done. :)

All the best

One of the reasons Yamaha technical people do not come onto sites is that they do not have time. They are kept very busy with people phoning them and helping them resolve problems they may have. We all have the chance to get in touch directly and this is what should be done when you think you have found a Bug It will then be sent off to Japan for the experts to look into it. This will not happen on forums.

I respectfully disagree. In this day and age, ignoring user forums is inexcusable. People nowadays discuss things online and expect feedback/technical support online. Genos is a high-tech instrument which should go with a high-tech support and phone, whether you like it or not, isn't. It is not like Yamaha has to follow dozens of forums. It is a niche market so they could spend 30 minutes per day on the forums (even single one) and greatly improve customer satisfaction.

Bill

Hi Bart

You suggest that there are not many forums,  Maybe not English ones, but there are many more in all sorts of countries that do not speak English as their native tongue.

OK Bill, so how about Yamaha addresses the 99%+ of Genos users who can read English regardless of their native tongue or know how to use Google Translate.

30 mins on a forum would be useless. It takes that long to read some of the threads on here. When we buy a keyboard the contract is with the shop and manufacturer and they should always be your first port of call if you have a problem. As members we try to help where possible as to how to operate and get the best from it but faults are a different kettle of fish.

There always are million reasons why NOT to do something. Now, where did I put the phonebook...

Nah. There are plenty of product folks in a company as large as resourceful as Yamaha. I don't need them to come here to gather bug reports. I want folks that know the product inside and out and can provide quick answers to these issues that everyone here is guessing about and also to give us some video workshops/tutorials like they do for their synth owners. There's no reason for them to be ignoring the arranger community.

Eileen, how can you know?

Why is there an official forum for Yamaha synths operated by Yamaha (https://yamahasynth.com/forum)?

Why does Phil Clendeninn aka "Bad Mister", a Yamaha technical sales specialist and respected expert on Yamaha's synth technology (https://yamahasynth.com/blog/author/958-badmister) does have the time, to provide regularily very detailed answers to user's questions in that very forum, summing up to (until today) 6408 replies in less then four years (see his profile https://yamahasynth.com/forum/profile/958)? I don't mention the many years he did the same thing on the motifator forum. I don't mention his countless technical articles he wrote to provide in-depth technical know-how to Yamaha's customer base.

Why does Yamaha arranger users are left in the dust? No time? Come on, Eileen. From the perspective of the loyal customers of Yamaha arrangers such support is desperatly needed. I've stated in this forum that I invested a considerable amount of my hard earned money in Yamaha products over the years and I like the Genos as a product. So this is not bashing Yamaha, on contrary. I got a lot of support from Yamaha (forum, technical articles, tutorial video) for a synth product that was considerable less expensive than a Genos. All I ask for is to get the same level of support as an arranger customer that I enjoyed as as synth customer.

Regards, Michael
