I am considering buying an S970 to replace my Tyros 5. It is simply a weight problem for me and as I get older need to lighten up things. The Tyros and my hard shell case is getting too hard to handle. My question is how compatible is the S970 with the Tyros 5? What can I transfer to the 970? Appreciate some input on this.

You can load some of your registrations from Tyros 5 but you may have to re-voice some as there are only two right hand voices on the 970. Also dose not have all the same voices. No scat pads or voices. Styles and multi pads work OK and some midi recordings but again may need tweaking to suit.

I had gone from a T5 to S970.
I copied all the styles that were on the T5 and not on the 970 with no problem.
Everything worked great.
If you live in the USA I have my S970 for sale. lol

I did it for the same reason as you, weight and ages, and all Tyros 4 registrations went right on psr 970. Some adjustments but not much. I did a lot of new at 970, but it did not work for me, so I switched it in and bought Tyros 5. I still struggle with the weight and more packages than I appreciate. Now I`m considering Geno's or Korg PA 1000. I'm a bit on PA's side at the moment, but time will show. Or maybee i just keep my Tyros 5, but 970 is out.

Hi Ingar,
I had a Tyros 5 76 which I thought was what I needed. After lugging around the 76 I wished I had bought a T5 61 as my back was starting to show signs of my nursing profession (lifting heavy patients) and my age at only 61 but with wear and tear probably equal to a 70 year old. I was hoping the Genos was going to give us options of 61 or 76 keys. I would have purchased the 61 key but as we know, there is only the 76 option. I was disappointed when I heard the Genos was only going to be a 76 and after seeing a Genos in the flesh so to speak and testing the weight and hearing the fantastic sounds I raced home, packed up the T5 and went back to the store and bought the Genos. I have no regrets in purchasing the Genos and I'm enjoying finding my way around the new touch navigation system.

Pleased you are enjoying your Genos. It is a lovely keyboard to sit and play and have fun with.

Weights of the keyboards in the discussion.

Tyros5      76 keys    35.2 lbs
Tyros5       61keys    30.9. lbs.  4.4 lbs  less.

Genos       76 keys.   28.7 lbs
S970          61 keys   25.5. lbs

For me the size  is more of an issue that an weight.
