Can I get a registration to advance the page in a text file?

I display lyrics using text files. The only way I've found to handle multiple page lyrics (which is virtually every song) is to break the lyrics into several files. Then my registration loads the appropriate file as I advance through the song.

However, load the new file takes time, and the delay is noticeable. If I could have one file, and just turn the page, there'd be no delay. Unfortunately, there's no way to memorize a "Text viewer +" command in a registration. I know I could assign it to a pedal, but I can never make that work smoothly.

In checking out the Midi>External Controller, I see I can assign the Text viewer + command to a CC. So now I'm wondering if I can put this CC into a midi file, which I could incorporate into the registration.

My question is: can this be made to work?

I'm assuming that when a registration loads a midi file, the commands get transmitted. Can I just loop midi out to midi in, then the keyboard receives the cc and acts on it? Also, what is the best channel to use? I see the External Controller defaults to channel 16, but is that the best one? Currently I use channel 1 on Midi B to transmit midi commands to SongBook to load the sheet music. How would I get the same midi file to transmit on midi A?

Thanks for your help,
Fred

No. I've never found out what the CC is, so unable to test. Can't say I've spent much time on it, but I'd still like to try.

Hi

Just guessing...

CC might mean Chord Cancel. And there might be a Sy*** command for this.

Check the keyboard manual.  ;)

Fred,

Maybe OpenText can help you solve your problem, only thing is you have to convert txt files to pdf files. Using OT there's no time lost in loading, you even can use multiple registration when there's need of more than 2 pages. I made about 3000 styles using OT and they appear instantly. Of course you need a computer or laptop to show your files.
