Friends,

There is new smart chord mode feature in SX920 . What is the difference between Chord looper and Smart Chord feature ? What is the advantage of the new Smart Chord feature over Chord looper?

Chord looper simply repeats the chords you record, it is a simple looper with some memories.
Smart chord (as fingering type) creates rich chords itself from one finger playing, as if you really knew how to play  ;)

The chord looper is primarily designed so you can record a chord progression and have it play by itself, driving the accompaniment, which, for example, might allow you to play a lead part or improvise over it.
The Smart chord feature automatically replaces very simple chords with more complex chords which might be more in keeping with the genre chosen, hopefully creating a more professional sounding performance.
But as rupp says Smartchord currently only works when in single finger accompaniment mode.
One doesn't have an advantage over the other, any more than a car has an advantage over a microwave oven. They each have a totally different purpose.

Hi Rupp& Mike,

Thank for your replies. I usually play accompaniment using single finger chord. I play maximum 3 to 4 chords mainly (Major and minor chords only) in a song. So for my requirement, is Chord looper feature is sufficient for playing Chords automatically ?

Thanks,
Sunny

The smart chord function does not repeat anything. Chord looper should be just fine for your requirement.
