Intermittent mic connection in DGX 670

Hi

I've been having problems with intermittent mic connection direct to the keyboard. It's been fine for quite a while but lately it sometimes just doesn't work. All settings are checked and as they should be.

Latest example this morning: the mic wasn't working; I rebooted the keyboard and the mic still didn't work. I tried a spare mic and that worked and then immediately swapped it back for the original mic, which then worked.

Most of the time the mic directly into the keyboard works, but it's not 100% reliable - a worry for live work.

Has anyone had similar issues?

Many thanks in advance for any responses.

I don't know anything about the piano in question, but I'm thinking of Windows, where restarting can sometimes be necessary also in connection with sound problems (This happened especially in earlier Windows versions).

Something similar could be the problem. If it's an important performance in connection with a large audience, I would consider a different or newer portable model.

Kind Regards

You could also try to power of the keyboard completely - maybe diconect from the grid, wait 30 seconds and then restart.

Many thanks both. Rebooting often sorts out things like this I agree, but it's not helped with this issue. I carry a small mixer and spare mic as back-ups but I'd love to know why it's happening. Apart from this I'm extremely happy with the keyboard and view it as a superb value and classy instrument.

The problem may be with your mic. Has it been dropped? Is it the same kind of mic as the one that works?
Did you use the same cable for both mics?  If one mic works with the keyboard then you can be sure it is not the cable or the keyboard.

Loose connection within the mic casing seems likely - maybe needs re-soldering. Worth a check.

Thanks Sam. I've used two different mics and leads. It's the same issue with both. This morning for example they both started working on the third reboot of the keyboard. There's no crackling or cut-outs, which would suggest mic casing/lead problems. It seems like some weird software glitch that isolates the mic input - then doesn't.  I've messaged the dealer to see if they have anything to suggest.

OK.  8)

I notice from your initial post that the problem is slighly different this time, although the outcome is the same.

It would be helpful to others on the Forum if you would let us know
what your dealer identified as the problem and how the problem was resolved.

Thanks Sam. I've sent the dealer a video of the issue (with the keyboard on cue misbehaving then behaving again), so I'll keep the forum updated with developments.
