Hi, in some songstyle (sx900) is the intro in a different key than the 4 variations. Can that be fixed? if there is a solution please explain in simple steps as at 75 ....pff

Not sure what you think you are hearing because on board styles will all be programmed in a single key. You set which key by playing an intro chord. I think you must be doing something with your own chord playing that makes you think it is in a different key. Note that the the first chord of a song may not be the root chord of the key it's in. So if you play that chord to trigger the intro it will be a different key.

No, surprisingly there are intros which appear to be in a different key because if you play the root Maj chord, the intro may bounce between the IV and V chords, before returning to the root for Main Va.

Technically, these are still in the same key as the original chord, but I've even encountered one that wasn't: Pretty woman; if you press A., the intro is actually E7 (ok, yes this is technically still within the key of A, but you know what i mean; it *sounds* like we jump by a 5th once the song starts, which is intentional).

gejorge, for intros like that, that's simply how the song works; but if you wish to *flatten* the intro into a root chord yourself (so that you can play chord variations manually) run it through Jorgen's midi2style (after first creating a midi file of the intro... renaming the .sty to .mid might even work, but I haven't tried the latter myself)

Mark, As you say, the intro in Pretty woman uses the dominant chord which of course is a transition chord into the root, which starts the song. And this kind of thing is not uncommon with intros, it's not a key change. You would still trigger the intro with the root chord even if that's not the chords being played in the intro. But in any case he seems to be referring to on board styles, not custom styles. So I doubt if that's the issue.
He should tell us exactly which specific styles he is using that he thinks change key, what song he is playing and what chord he is using to trigger the intro. Then we might know what is going on.
I would expect this much more likely to be a 'music understanding' issue with the OP than a problem with the style programming.

it is a custom songfile, not an onboard style. the vth makes sence. I will try the given solution(s). Thank you all.

For an intro, you play only one chord to start it which tells it what key you want.

Don't play any other chords during the intro, otherwise you'll change the key.

And that chord should be a simple fingered tri-tone,or 4 fingered maj 7 chord, -  or if in single fingered mode, a single note of the root chord of the key you are playing. It's possible that this chord never appears in the intro, but that doesn't change how you should trigger it. As Fred says playing any other chord or even single notes in the chord driving area of the keyboard while the intro plays will reset the key and completely mess up the intro (or ending).
If it is a custom style, I suppose it's possible that whoever programmed it has done something unusual - or wrong - in setting this up which doesn't lead back into the correct key. Unusual but possible and without the style we can't tell.

I've just joined the forum and thanks for the info guys. I have a few 'custom' styles (downloaded) that behave this way but most of them are 'dated' and probably shouldn't be on my keyboard anyway. I haven't come across a pre-set style that behaves like this, so I'll just stick with what I've got and be happy! :)
