I inadvertently started my genos1 without the 2 clipped on speakers connected. Realised my mistake turned off and reconnected the speaker but when turned back on no sound. headphone socket is working so looks like the built in amplifier. Anyone else had this and would welcome any suggestions on what to try. Both speakers are correctly connected. Thanks, Chip.

Check the cable connecting the keyboard to the subwoofer, the subwoofer contains the amp that feeds both the subwoofer itself and the satellite speakers.

This cable is really fragile so if you disconnected and reconnected it, you might have accidentally bent one of the pins.

Speakers are an optional extra unless you bought a complete package with keyboard, speakers (and stand) offered by some retailers.
So, it's not a mistake to turn on the keyboard without speakers connected.*  I use headphones most of the time (although I do have a PA and mixer in the same room) and they are not connected permanently as I use them with my laptop..

As DerekA stated, it's more likely to be a cabling problem.

The mini-DIN plug only fits one way, very easy to bend a pin by wrong insertion.  Small flat-head screwdriver or fine-nosed pliers should enable you to fix it if a pin is bent.  Be gentle as these Chinese-made DIN plugs seem cheap and nasty with thin metal.  I'm surprised they meet European electrical standards.

* There is a switching order for connected ampflifiers worth remembering if you wish to avoid audible "pops" coming through your speakers.

There are times when I wish I'd settled on an acoustic instrument. The freedom to roam and play without cables and amplification was what attracted me to the flute in my 20s, living in a small one room flat (apartment) in south London after graduation. So I can fully understand your interest in learning saxophone. The range of accordians would fit the portable keyboard category but I've never really been a fan. However, "The Mavericks" in one of their tunes use it well and a girl singer I worked with had her party piece of an Edith Piaf song.
